Hi , early intervention at diagnosis is key.

The inflammation in your hands may also be in other areas of your body but not

obvious - ie coronaries. I started Enbrel same week. For holistic intervention,

I swim, take tumeric and omega 3s. Kate F

Any input would be appreciated. at what point do you start taking meds for RA?

no other symptoms other than 3 finger joints on both hands. I have read that

early intervention sometimes helps. anything holistic? thank you,

I just came from a lecture on ra...there is a window of oppurtunity to get the

disease in remission before the damage as started.. once you have the erosions

it is most unlikely to reverse...early and aggressive treatment is the rule of

thumb..as far homeopathics, that is individual decision.llke the previous post

becausse you dont see sweeling or feel pain it can still be there..you always

feel the worst pain... wish you best of luck..

Diane and , this is very true. Early and aggressive treatment of

RA is quite important, and many researchers believe there is a

" window. " Months do matter.

Although there are some studies which demonstrate the healing of

erosions, it occurs only in a minority of patients. Other structural

damage is unlikely to heal.

Let the disease go in the early stages, and the nature of the disease

will likely become more aggressive and more difficult to treat from

that point forward. Treat immediately, and a remission state will be

more easily achieved. For a lucky few, even a drug-free remission is

possible after aggressive initial therapy.
