Guest guest
Hello ! I've always had negative bloodwork and have been diagnosed with seronegative RA. My RA factor has always been low, ANA was negative and my sedrate has gone up and down, but was never very high. It made it a little difficult to diagnose me - even the rheumatologist was surprised that my bloodwork was normal. I've never had all that much swelling, but even with what I've had I've still ended up with some deformity in my fingers and my feet. I'm 32 and the mother of two young girls, so I know how hard it is to parent while in so much pain. Besides pain pills, have you tried prednisone? Are you on any RA medications? A combination of Methotrexate and Humira has really helped me. I do hope you get some answers and relief soon! Guest guest
you sound like I did before i was diagnosed with RA in Aug 06. Have your doc check your Anti-CCP and your Vit D levels. if your Vit D level is low and your Anti-CCP level is High then there could be a possiblity that you have Sero Negative RA. In may 06 I spent 3 days in bed and could not move, then once I forced myself to move around I started to blow up like a balloon and I hurt so much, I could barely move or walk. My doc had me on prednisone, cereblex(not spelled right sorry) and percocet. He would see me once a week and test my blood. But could not find anything wrong as well finally he sent me to a rheumy who I couldn't get into til July 06. In the meantime he saw me once a week. Once I got in with the rheumy she ran more blood tests and put me on methotrexate which made me sick but made me feel better and made the swelling start to go down. She also put me on a higher dose of the prednisone. When she saw me in August 06 she then diagnosed me with sero negative RA. In Oct 06 I left my xhusband who during the whole time of what was going on with me was very verbally, emotionally and physically abusive. I am now on Enbrel but have been off for about 6 to 7 weeks due to surgery but will be going back on this sunday. Diagnosed with RA at 31 Single Mom of a 3 and 5 year old [ ] Negative! Negative! Negative! Hello everyone! I have a specific concern and I would love to hear your input. I am actually a nurse, but I speciallize in Neonatology. So I have no more knowledge than any of you about RA. I do know my mother and her father both had RA. I have pain in every single joint in my body. My hands ache. My fingers " lock up " . I toss and turn each night to try to find a comfortable position and I wake up stiff and unable to move in the morning. I am only 34 and it takes me hours to get going in the morning. I am a single mom. After about two hours of working I hurt so much! I take the pain pills my doctor prescribes me. I am swollen all over. I have pitting edema in my legs and generallized swelling everywhere else. Now, my doctor keeps sending me to get my blood drawn for RA. Always negative! Not only is my Rheumatoid Factor negative, but so is my ANA and my sed rate! She is checking out other causes while I keep on taking pain pills and Lasix and higher doses of antidepressants. Has anyone else ever had negative EVERYTHING and did have RA? I realize that there is such a thing as RF negative RA. But my doctor says that my ANA and sed rate should have been elavated. I'm frusterated and really want a diagnosis! Guest guest
Thank you gina it was the one thing I couldn't remember. I think mine were low instead of high because I was seronegative. Guest guest
No need to apologize, . Anti-CCP is relatively new on the scene. Either RF or anti-CPP count when classifying RA as seropositive. Guest guest
Are you seeing a rheumatologist, ? Ask for an anti-CCP test. Also, the ANA will not necessarily be positive in those who have RA. Not an MD On Thu, Dec 11, 2008 at 12:39 PM, <angel2woods@...> wrote: > Hello everyone! Guest guest
Shannan, My RF ANA and sed rates are all normal. I am considered Sero-negative RA. I have all the pains etc but it does not show in the blood work. It actually is pretty common. My Rhu says it happens in about 1/3 of the cases he sees. THey diagnosed mine by the signs and symptoms as well as an MRI of my hands ( with contrast) Heidibug On Thu, Dec 11, 2008 at 1:39 PM, <angel2woods@...> wrote: > Hello everyone! Guest guest
Hi Melynda and Jennie - This is just a thought I've had when reading your posts about how good you felt when you were pregnant. I wonder what exactly it is that made you feel so good - maybe the PG specific hormones. You'd think the doctors could create a " pseudo pregnancy " that would not allow you to gain weight or produce another child, but give you the benefits of feeling better like you did when pregnant. Wouldn't that be wonderful?..........Doreen > > HELLO JENNIE, I DON'T BELIEVE I'VE EVER CHATTED W/U BFORE. Guest guest
, my labs were " negative " (really more like high normal) in 1998 when I was first symptomatic. It wasn't until 2006 when I found I had a high antiCCP antibody that they realized it was RA. Sometimes it takes a while to reveal itself. Have they drawn your antiCCP? ________________________________ From: <Rheumatoid.Arthritis.Support@...> Sent: Friday, December 12, 2008 11:10:45 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Negative! Negative! Negative! Guest guest
No, as of yet I don't think my doctor has requested an anti-CCP test. I'll have to ask them to be sure. I'm suprised if she didn't, though, why didn't she think of that?
