Guest guest
Hi Margie, I hope you feel better. You should call your Rheumy and let him know you have a cold. He/She may want you to skip a week of MTX. Sometimes our colds tend to stay with us a bit longer than " normal " . MTX weakens our immune system on top of our RA even though it helps us to feel better. It's best just to give a quick call to your Rheumy for advice. Get better soon! Heidi in Mass. [ ] First cold since starting MTX in July I was diagnosed in May and am managing to stay relatively pain free and active on 3 tabs (2.5) MTX once a week and Meloxicam daily. I started taking MTX in July. I have a full blown cold today and am not sure what to expect and watch for. Should my cold run its course just like before, or will I have issues since my immune system is compromised? Is there anything I can do to manage getting better without having problems? Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Margie: I know when I get sick, or feel I am getting something, I go right away to my PCP. I always get Bronchitis, several bouts of Pneumonia, and bad coughing. I have not had a cold in many, many years. My lungs are weak as is my immune system. It doesn't hurt to get checked out before things should get bad. I have learned from my past experiences. Hope your cold goes away, and you have no problems.
