Guest guest
"Even the sparrow has found a home…………a place near Your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.." (Psalm 84:3 NIV)"Oh, the pain and fatigue!" Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to leave my home and do the things I used to -- at the times I want to. The four walls close in, and I cry out to God to help me learn to "be content in whatever state I'm in." I think of how much more I could serve the Lord if I could just be out and about again. But, He gently reminds me in so many ways of how He uses me "right where I am." Sending cards to cheer another home-bound person. Or a phone call. Writing to others who might be experiencing the exact same pains and feelings you are dealing with.I read the scripture above, and it hit me - the sparrow had built his nest "near the altar of God." Now, that's what God really wants all of us to do. And, no matter where we are, our "nest can be near God's altar." We just have to stop and recognize it as such. And, what better place to help lift us out of the doldrums than to be at God's altar…..in His presence. The song, "The Altar," BY Ray Boltz speaks of "not having to carry your burdens anymore." We simply lay them at the feet of Jesus on His altar. That's what His altar is for. Wow! Now I could get excited about that! Enough to maybe help me stop thinking of all that is "wrong," and start thinking of how much God gives us that is "right." NO! It probably won't take away all our pains and problems, but it will give our Lord the chance to "help" us carry the load, and it will seem lighter. So, let's get busy "hurting bird-friends of mine." Gather the sticks, and bits and pieces, and mold them into a nest (your couch or bed, maybe??) close to the altar of our caring Lord. Be still (oh, that feels good!) and listen to what He wants to do through us today -- even in our pain. Prayer: Thank you Father that we can always "nest" close to you, our healer and protector.---------------------------------------ABOUT THE AUTHORAlice is one who is content "nesting" in her home. But, at the present time, is still able to be "out and about" most of the time. During her "down" times, though, she is so thankful to know she can be right with her Lord, and serve Him in whatever way he shows her each day.....even from her couchDelicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters.
