Guest guest
Members of the board: As I'm sure most of you are aware, there is a personality type found on discussion boards known as " Trolls. " These personalities claim to be asking for help, but in reality, their purpose is to disrupt and create tension within a given group. They claim to have never been on a discussion board before, but usually they have a great deal of experience, and use it to the advantage of their need to cause chaos. Why do they do this? Lot's of reasons. Sometimes they're lonely and angry, or they're hurting and angry, or they're just plain angry, and can't lash out at the people/persons they're really angry or hurt over. If you've been following the thread here you can tell who the " Troll " is on the board right now. I suggest either ignoring this person and continue with " positive " conversation, or lay low until someone removes them. Oh by the way Silvia, you know you're info is right on the money, as do many of us here. Guest guest
Soda wreaks havic in my E. BUT I use in in an emergency when sometthing has gotten stcuk and begin to ferment. Like I said, the soda wreaks havic but it moves the stuck item around a bit and helps it get down. Soda creates too much discomfort (fop me) to use with every meal. Guest guest
Bipley, Well, if you try one you'll know why!! That's for sure!!:-) If you can imagine the foam (head) that forms when you pour a coke or beer, well that foam winds back up in your throat and the pressure in your pouch & esophagus is not pleasant to say the least!! I'm sure that can cause damage to your pouch and esophagus! I was able to drink beer and soda (slowly) BEFORE my 1st fill. I wouldn't touch either now. Funny that I don't miss diet coke at all!! It and beer were all I ever drank! Well, maybe a glass of iced tea once or twice a year to to mix things up a bit!! LOL.....I drink Ice tea all day long now, love it, a little splenda/equal, yummy!! And to replace the beer.... well nothing replaces beer but, now I love Kahlua/white russians, and Rum & diet V8 splash!! No carbonation and they go down nicely ;-) Only once in a while though....to relax :-) When I'm "out" I might choose a "Rum Runner" or "Bahama Mama" they are both fruity with no carbonation. (If your not a "drinker" than dis-regard the last paragraph..Iced Tea will do fine...LOL) Dana -------------- Original message -------------- From: "mybipley" <mybipley@...> Would someone explain to me again why we can't drink carbonated drinks? Such as Diet Coke? I can't remember the reasoning behind it.Thx12/6/06252/232/

Guest guest
Oye veh... that does not sound nice at all! Thanks for the info. I couldn't remember exactly why it was a bad thing. I guess I was overloaded on information at that time and it didn't all sink in. Thx! 12/6/06 252/232/130 > > Bipley, Well, if you try one you'll know why!! Guest guest
Hi all, It's interesting to read all these posts about carbonated drinks. I am another achalasian who survived the bad times by drinking carbonated drink (dry ginger ale was my 'Drano' of choice) to get food down. I was unable to drink water (warm or room temp) at all - it would take me 3-4 hours to sip my way through a glass of water whereas i could 'drink' a glass of soda (as you call it) in about a half hour. My oesophagus was really badly distended and tortuous as well, so those who put it down to having a fairly straight oesophagus - that didn't apply in my case. Just goes to prove that each of us have to handle this condition in the best way to suit our particular case. Deb from Melbourne Australia. soda I tried drinking soda this weekend after it was mentioned here and it did help me.Water, on the other hand, does not help me at all when things are feeling stuck. -- "joanninfuquay" <jptoyzearthlink (DOT) net> wrote: I don't understand how anyone can drink soda when they have achalasia. Not to mention that it actually helps them! ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ ____Click here to find all of your computer accessories for less! Guest guest
I used to drink diet soda almost every day for several years. Now only drink one occasionally except when we drink diet coke in our theaters. Instead of soda, I switched to Lipton's bottled diet green tea. Also make brewed green tea for afternoons. Green tea is more healthy than soda also. Debbie L
Guest guest
I'm sorry if my post came off as saying anyone did that in our group. My post was just a reminder that we all should drink plenty of water, and not the kind that's bottled, either. That's a waste of money. I put filters on my kitchen sink and fridge, and fill my bottle and glasses from there. We've got to be healthy, it's the way it has to be.
