Guest guest
The first thing that I wondered, was does she normally have her mouth shut all the time, or does she breath through her mouth. If she is a mouth breather she probably would find it hard to swim with her mouth shut. Otherwise not a great deal you can do, except keep telling her it is better to shut her mouth while swimming. Guest guest
took private lessons and we just kept working on Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (the shape AND making the noise) before he would go under. He still did open his mouth and swallow water for a long time, but he is getting better and if we point to our mouth with the Mmmmmmm shape(really exaggerating the closed lips) before he jumps in, he makes the M sound and it seems to help. This was two to three years in the making, but now he usually closes his mouth when jumping in and swimming. I can tell too, because his stomach used to get sooooooooooo big from all the water he was drinking! =) now he looks normal when he is done swimming. Good luck! It will come. Guest guest
My 8 month old son has a STARband, and we take swim lessons every Saturday morning. Our Ortho. told us to use this time as his hour off every day, and that the helmet should not be worn in the pool. I think you should probably take it off for swimming, and just monitor the amount of time he has it off and be sure to put in right back on when the swimming is over and head is dry. At least that is the advise we were given. Hope that helps.... Guest guest
The band should not be worn while swimming as it is not supposed to get wet. I thought I might take my son in the pool in a floaty without removing his band but it wasn't realistic. There was too much splashing going on by both him and his brothers and the risk of it getting wet was too high. Perhaps you can use his time in the pool as his 1 hour off for the day. My question is can he wear his helmet in the pool? He has a hanger helmet. I don't know if the brand matters at all. I do not want to take it off of him to swim but I do not want a crabby baby. Guest guest
Logan had his band during the hottest part of the summer, and we used the pool everday WITHOUT the band. Use it as the hour off - clean it right before you go into the pool, let it dry while you swim, the quick wash his hair and put it back on. We did this almost every day over the summer - it's manageable! Good Luck and have fun! > > The band should not be worn while swimming as it is not supposed to get wet. > I thought I might take my son in the pool in a floaty without removing his > band but it wasn't realistic. Guest guest
I have been advised to swim or do swim aerobics for exercise and my question is: If I have an autoimmune disease, should I be concerned with the absorption of chlorine that the pool is cleansed with? Would sitting in the sauna afterwards sweat out the chlorine? Rojo Noble Beasts Ranch Grass Valley, CA
Guest guest
, I can't answer your questions about chlorine and the sauna. Would you have access to or be able to use an elliptical trainer? That would give you a whole-body, aerobic, low-impact workout. In addition, using an elliptical trainer would be weight-bearing exercise - swimming is not.
