Guest guest
i've never taken Plaquenil, but MTX caused my white blood cell count to get too low. Arava continued the decline. I had to go off of both meds. Sue On Jun 15, 2009, at 8:47 AM, klcxman wrote: > Hello. Guest guest
Michele, Many people with RA use Arava (leflunomide) and experience no significant problems. Guest guest
Michele, I too stopped taking Arava around the second week in May and I just told my Rheumatologist yesterday. She does not like me. The only medicine I believe in right now is Humira....and my Chiropractor...and sometimes Aleve...oh, and Vitamin D. That is my mix. Within this past year, my Rheumatologist has prescribed Methotrexate, Prednisone, and Vicodin....won't even try them again. There is no point. Have tried them and hate the way they feel..internally. I thought I would try Arava and had been on it since November, I think. I ended up in the ER the last weekend of April. Couldn't breathe. Never felt a pain like that before. Thought my neck and chest was going to explode. Was disgnosed with costochondritis....wtheck. Of all the years I have had RA, have never heard of costochondritis. (have seen it some in this group, but before two months ago....never. Was prescribed Voltaren. Seemed to help for a few days, but then pain in my neck and chest started to come back. I, personally, blamed the Arava and Voltaren so quit taking both, and the pain has went away. Some swelling is coming back, but I would rather cope with that pain (that I know way to well) than the bs chest, neck and breathing problems, stomach aches, headaches. So I guess what I am trying to say is " high five " to don't take it. Take care (musiclvr3237) > > > After ten+ years of watching people suffer thru Arava. Guest guest
Hey , I can't say I blame you for stopping Arava. It can take a few years to find the right meds " cocktail " for each individual. I am on Rituxan now and it has been the first med in over ten years that has given me pain free time!! So there is hope we each just have to find the right mixture for our bodies. So I say high five to you too!!!
