Guest guest
Stan, & Group - I tried to give blood once and they said my RA meds should not be a problem. But, I happened to have a low-grade fever that day, so they couldn't take it. I've not had an opportunity to try again, but I would if I happened onto a place again.....Doreen > > I have been wondering about whether we should give blood also. > They have blood drives where I work often and I have not > participated for not knowing. > > , NY >______________________________ > From: " stanpfister@... Guest guest
I know here in Ontario we are not allowed to donate blood if you have RA. The red cross will not use your blood and I know because I was the national bone marrow registry for years and then got a call one day that I was a potential match for someone needing a transplant. I informed them that I had since been diagnosed and she said they have to take me right off the list that I was not able to donate any more. This was a real bummer as I always gave blood and felt good about it. The nurse even joked and said I am sure someone with cancer would trade to have RA but it is just not allowed and apparently the transplant would not work with all the drugs we take. I think I will let the medical school here in my home town use me after for research purposes! Tammy Rather than aiming to be perfect, just aim to be little bit better today than you were yesterday. __________________________________________________________________ Canada Toolbar: Search from anywhere on the web, and bookmark your favourite sites.
