Guest guest
Thank you to everyone for you thoughts. I agree with , Dr OP Garg. As much as we learn our disease through trial and error, it's nice to have a specialist around to give us some educated insight! It never occured to me that the benazepril could be causing the swelling. Thank you. Vivian- You are right. Before being diagnosed with RA, I had been relatively healthy. No meds and very active. So I tend to relate all of my symptoms to RA or the treatment of RA. Not a good way to deal with things, I know. I made an appointment with my primary care physician. Barbara-Thank you so much for sharing. I often wonder how much longer I will be able to work the job that I love so much. Sitting with not very much leg support is pretty uncomfortable. By the time I get home, I'm exhausted and full of fluid (edema). Thank you for putting a name to it, by the way. I don't have surgical stockings but I did try wearing form fitting socks up to my calves. This has helped considerably. Someone also told me to lie down and elevate my feet so that they are above the level of my heart. I think these things are all working. I'm glad that you are in remission after so many years of suffering. Are you also a diabetic? The reason I ask is because my mother has just been diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy. She was prescribed Cymbalta. Best wishes...and thanks again. Shanyka in CA
Guest guest
Hi Shanyka.  I am glad I was able to help you to understand the Edema. I think if you check in your drug store, you might find those elastic stockings. I have to lie in bed to put them on. They can be hard to get on, but I just keep trying to get them on.  No, I am not a Diabetic, thank God. I have too much of other things wrong with me.  It was good advice to put your legs up, so they are higher then your heart. I do that using 2 couch pillows under my feet and legs. It does take a long time to get at this Edema. I do know if I sit too long, my feet and ankles are all swollen. You know how hard it is then to try and stand on your feet.  I hope you will be able to work as long as you can. It is nice you have a job you love.  Take care of yourself and those feet. I wear those medical elastic stockings from the time I get up until I go to bed. Be sure you remove them at bedtime. You can't sleep with them on.  Feel better soon.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Shanyka Else <shanyka_else@...> Subject: [ ] Re:Swelling Lower Extremities Date: Thursday, February 3, 2011, 8:14 PM  Thank you to everyone for you thoughts.
