Guest guest
Shanyka, I have swelling in my legs/ankles, the exhaustion and the focus problems. I am on Prednisone, Cymzia and Plaquenil. I don't have the High heart rate. I would not chuck it off to Prednisone until you check with your doctor - make sure since you have high heart rate and high BP that the swelling is not from your heart. Take care - My prayers are with you. God bless - Vivian in CA ------------------------------------
Guest guest
Your symptoms seems to be more related to antihypertensive drugs, most likely Benazepril, Prednisolone causes deposition of tissues around upper part of the body. Please get also excluded something called Pseudothrombophlebitis which developss in the form of leg swelling secondary to rupture of joint linings followed by seepage of joint fluid in the leg compartments. Although this eventuality seems to be unlikely as it is generally associated with Knee joint swelling and painfull leg swelling. Regards, Dr. OP Garg, VSM Blog . Facebook . If not, I pray that things get better for you. I'm usually a quiet observer, but I thought I might get the group's input. For the past couple of days, I've been experiencing uncomfortable swelling in my legs, ankles, and feet. I have RA and have been taking prednisone since April of last year. Currently my dose is 10mg. I also take 20mg of Arava, 20mg of benazepril and 50mg of metoprolol for my high blood pressure, among other things. I have a nagging cough and had to visit the ER to have three treatments of albuterol and about 15mg of Decadron. I've been very exhausted and unable to focus at times. My heart rate has also been sort of a low high (115-120 bpm) I have intermittent tingling in my hands and feet. To say the least, I haven't been my usual self. I know these symptoms seem all over the place...but they've all sort of come out of nowhere. Has anyone experienced these symptoms with prednisone? Any thoughts on how to reduce the swelling? Any amount of input would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Shanyka in CA
Guest guest
Hi Shanyka.  I have issues with Edema, swelling of my feet and ankles. The only thing I do is put on surgical elastic stockings before I get out of bed. Mine go right up to mid thigh. They do help the Edema. I also take a fluid pill each day as I retain fluid easily. This Edema problem is worse when I fly. I wear them whenever I fly to stop the swelling. My feet and ankles swell horribly when I fly. I am retired, so I am home most of the time. I always have my feet up in my recliner chair. This helps too.  I was just diagnosed with Neuropathy of both feet. My feet have swelled since I was diagnosed with RA almost 7 years ago. My feet and ankles were struck the worst, and then having them diagnosed with Neuropathy, they bother me a lot. My foot surgeon put me on B12, which has taken the Neuropathy pain away. My Rheumy has just put me on Lyrica and it is working too. When my feet are swollen and riddled with pain, I am off them as much as possible. I can hardly stand or walk then.  I have been in a medicine induced remission with my RA. I don't even know I have it. It took me 6 years to reach this point. Finally, my magic " cocktail " of meds. are working and I am very grateful for that. How long it lasts I don't know, but however long, I will enjoy the break from all those flares, and suffering.  I hope the swelling goes down for you. I know it makes your feet feel awful. I sometimes put my feet in the bathtub with cold water. That helps too.  Wishing you better days ahead.  Hugs,  Barbara From: shanyka_else <shanyka_else@...> Subject: [ ] Swelling Lower Extremities Date: Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 8:29 PM  Hello Everyone, I hope everyone is doing well.
