Guest guest
Hi Kay - unfortunately I have been through exactly what you've described - minus the x-rays - and am still going through the appeals process now 3½ years later. Its a horrible system, takes a ridiculously long time and will have you on an emotional roller coaster ride if you don't get a handle on your feelings right away. There is no reason or excuse for the treatment we get by the SSD system (including their docs), but that's how its done. Part of me has felt that it serves to " weed out " some of the applicants who really could work if they wanted to. But that doesn't make things any easier for people like us who are seriously disabled. I don't know if this is a " set up " as you said, but I do know that you need to prepare yourself for a fight and if you don't already have an SSD attorney, I would highly recommend that you get one now. They work on contingency, so there should not be any out of pocket costs for you right now. I wish you all the luck in the world. I pray this process goes more quickly than it has for me. Keep us posted. I am always interested to hear how the process works in different states. I'm in Florida..... Doreen Hi Everyone, I had a disability physical today, scheduled by the state and I have some questions!!!!!! First of all it was a rushed through affair, barely what I would even call a physical. Secondly, the only exray they wanted was of the lumbar spine, which makes no sense to me because my back is one of the few places I don't hurt. All my problems are in my hands, wrists, feet, and ankles. Can anyone think of a reason they would take only this exray? Why would the state even bother to set up a physical that felt to me little more than a sham? Am I being set up for the initial rejection, forcing me into the appeal process? Has anyone been through this before? Kay

Guest guest
Hi Doreen, I too live in FL. According to my friends in the area, mine was about typical. I was denied twice and then went and got an attorney. They got some additional information ( I don't know what or where from, but they did and I believe that within about a month, the State of FL had " granted me the money that I was due all along. After all, this is money that we have put into the system and not something that I was asking for something for nothing. I was lucky, The only extra test that I had to go for was the mental test, And yes, they did confirm that I was indeed mental, LOL. I was also in the midst of being incarcerated for a 4 month hospital stay which started out with a fractured patella from a total knee replacement which became severely infected, led me into septic shock where my heart stopped and a code was called and I was in a coma for a number of weeks,so I guess I went about it thru it the hard way. All the best in you quest with the state of FL it certainly doesn't help the pain and everything else. Hang in there!!!! Gentle, tender angel hugs.....................
