Date: Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 12:03 PM I am losing my job sometime this week (though they won't give me a date), and my COBRA payment is $610/mo! That's the highest I've ever seen COBRA for an individual. With that payment, I can't afford to keep the kids in daycare, and don't know how to pay my mortgage on the house we just moved into a month ago. So...with all of that information, I know nobody wants to cover me, since I have a pre-existing condition, but do any of you know of anyone who does offer covereage immediatly with acceptance to pre-existing conditions? Guest guest
As part of the stimulus package, the federal government is picking up 65% of the premiums if you qualify, the qualifications are pretty generous. I'm not sure if I can post sites here but if you just google something like cobra discount under obama, you'll see links that give you the info. Guest guest
Are you married? If so this is a qualifying event for your husband (if married) and he can add you to his insurance. Guest guest
Try Cinergy Health. It covers pre-existing conditions. Personally I have only seen it advertised on television but I'm sure if you go to their website it might tell you more. I wrote down the phone number off TV just in case I needed it. The number is 1-800-398-1650. From what it says on television you are covered immediately and it does cover pre-existing conditions. I'm from Michigan but we have satellite TV so it could cover you where you are. Worth a try hun. Shay Michigan -- Re: [ ] Health insurance coverage in PA for RA? Guest guest
Wow, !! I wish the previous administration had something in place like this back when I left my job in 2005! I paid well over $900 per month in COBRA premiums for 18 months and then was left with no insurance after that. When I tried to get different coverage during COBRA, I was told I would have to wait until the end of the 18 months allowance before I could change. Then when that time was up, I had a diagnosis and along with my other health issues was considered uninsurable - unless I wanted to pay $1800+ per month in premiums with lousy copays and sky-high deductibles. I'm happy to hear that people have much better options now - especially with the economy in the condition it is in.....Doreen As part of the stimulus package, the federal government is picking up 65% of the premiums if you qualify, the qualifications are pretty generous.
