Yeah, LOL. That's what I figured. It's just so hard to explain to someone who

doesn't have the disease that I'm not OK. They like to hear " Yes, I'm getting

better every day! " But I don't feel better. It's just easier sometimes to

answer that way than to go into the same old same old complaints, LOL.

Hi ,

Yes, it does, it comes and goes, I have had long periods on abx

(antibiotics) when there was no numbness on any parts of my body, but

eventually it recurs.

You will find many of your symptoms wax and wane, that's what makes this

disease so maddening, you get your hopes up that it is finally gone, and

bam....it's back.

Marta

Hi ,

It is so true, people just do not want to hear bad things, so when I am

asked, I say, " good days, bad days. " Actually, I get tired of hearing

myself complain, so I can imagine how others would feel if I told them the

truth!

Marta

Hi Reid,

A good day is any day I can get up out of bed and get online and answer

my mail and participate with this group. Or a day when I feel like I have

energy enough to clean the bathroom, or refrigerator out, yes, I may have

several bad days thereafter, but I do get a small feeling of accomplishment

when I do those things, so I still call those good days. Maybe we should

call them " Good Moments, " but if we told that to people who do not have this

illness, they wouldn't have a clue anyway.

Hi Sharon,

Yes, I have this tingling - almost a burning in feet (very common, from what

I understand) - seems like it's the middle of the toes out. Also, tingling

in hands.

Daughter with confirmed babesia, lyme & ehrylichia gets shakiness in legs &

hands when stressed. (Used to be all the time - even sitting still or lying

in bed, so hopefully the RIfe & meds are working.)

Has she had a PCR test done? What about a live, whole blood test and/or a

culture? Is she still on abxs?

Will keep her in our thoughts & prayers, too - along with all victims of lyme

& other serious diseases...

Blessings & velcros,

CHris

PS - Does anyone know how MS is actually differentiated from lyme on MRIs?

Is lyme just " ruled out " - then MS is assumed?

Dear Sharon: It's lyme related. Perhaps during one of these episodes

she should get the LUAT done to figure out if this is a result of active

infection. Lyme is great at hiding, so it may be coming out to " play "

which means she needs to be on antibiotics again.

Hi Sharon,

I think it's Lyme related also. I never had those sorts of problems until my

tick bite occurred. Now I have numb

hands and feet. My hands and feet NEVER felt cold in the winter and they sure

are cold now.

Yes, Yes & Yes.....I have constantly numb hands, feet on occasion. I

had emg's done and showed carpal tunnel in both hands, I have much

difficulty grasping anything, writing at all, but somehow I still manage to

I read somewhere, but of course cannot recall, that a Dr had surgery 5 times

himself with LD. There is also an abstract somewhere, I printed it out for

my doctor, but unfortunately did not save in a word program, it said that in

late stage LD, that carpal tunnel is common. Maybe you can find it on Art's

Lymenet. I just looked, here are the abstracts, you need to go to the

Hey Muttluver

I only have heard of tingling in arms, elbows and shoulders when there is a subluxation in your cervical spine. I work at a chiropractor and many who think they need to be operated for carpal tunnel and other things have it corrected with a simple cervical adjustment. Maybe someone here has experienced it from candida or die off. Are you neck muscles tight. Do you get headaches. I would explore a good chiropractor in your area (ask around and go to one you hear the name multiple times) for a good one. It could be tension has tightened you up and is squeezing on the nerves through the neck and shoulder region which causes radiation down the arms. It is not uncommon.

Good luck to you.

I was told that the numbness and tingling in my arms was due to the muscles in my underarms and near my sholder blades be so overused they were impacted. Just picking up my kids and other various things did me in. So it's not like it's got to be working in a coal mine for a week. Even normal activity. I stretched and stretched and pretended I was a cat every time I stood up, and in three days the numbness and tingling disapeared. I was very relieved as I was thinking that my spine had maybe pinched on a nerve and I couldn't afford a chiro at the time.

So I seriously reccomend stretching, especially certain yoga moves that stretch your back, neck and arms. Hey, what the heck, I think yoga helped my health so much I reccomend it all the time. For the arms and back though, I would reccomend;

Marjarasana Cat Cow

Vajrasana Extended puppy pose

Savasana Corpse pose

http://www.ebmyoga.com/beginyoga.html

(pictures there)

and

The Half Spinal Twist Posture

http://www.santosha.com/asanas/ardhamatsyendra.html

The Half Moon Posture

http://www.santosha.com/asanas/ardhachandra.html

The Child Posture

http://www.santosha.com/asanas/bala.html

The Cobra Posture

http://www.santosha.com/asanas/naga.html

The Diamond or Thunderbolt Posture

http://www.santosha.com/asanas/vajra.html

This is the one I find helps most my upper back, you have to make sure you are pressing your tailbone towards the ground though for it to work.

an md reccomends these for your back

http://www.yoga.com/ydc/enlighten/enlighten_document.asp?ID=308 & section=9 & cat=144

I tried to include only the pretty easy ones, they do hurt at some points those. Especially those with advanced symptoms like CFS and fibro. I've done yoga for two years now almost, and have never gone beyond just stretching and have lost 50 lbs, gained a TON of energy, and am no longer so plauged by pain I can't sleep. The diet is fixing the rest it seems.

Hi I just read in The Yeast Connection by G. Crook MD that

numbness and tingling can be caused by Candida. After elimanating other possibilities ...it may be the big C.

Kathy

-- RE: numbness

It sounds like fibromyalgia. I get this too from bad reactions to food, chemicals. I actually think fibromyalgia happens because of the toxic build up in your system. Getting on top of the candida, definitely helps to get rid of it. I find chemicals to be particularly bad for it.

Meredith,

Very good suggestion. I work part time in a chiropractor. I have talked to many people who start yoga classes and reduce thier visits to maintenance or choose not to go anymore. I have taken a few classes with a friend who exchanges massage for them. I recall the first time when I did a twisting stretch my midback spine adjusted all over the place.

Also my chiro only charges $20 a visit for those without insurance and $10 for kids. So if you are not anti-chiro it is often doable. Most chiros believe so much in what they do they are not SOOO into the money end.

My experience anyway, I worked for one who never turned anyone down and even took baked goods for adjustments.

Happy stretching. Oh and thanks for the links I flagged your email to look at them later

I WISH they were that inexpensive around here GiGi! We are talking 45 dollars upwards! (and that's for a 15-20 minute visit)

Glad I had good suggestions!

Yes I agree with this. Now I am getting on top of the candida which I believe is causing the fibromyalgia,

it is starting to go away.

Dear ,

I am numb on the front side of my left thigh. I'm also numb on the majority of my back, sides of my back and the shoulder area just came back in the last month and I'm three 1/2 years out from my last revision. Give it time, it may come back, I'm still hopeful the rest of my back will come back, but my thigh is still as numb as it was just after surgery.

If you don't mind, may I ask, did you ever see a neuroligist about

the numbness? Do you have no feeling or tingling? Mine is tingling.

To tell you the truth it scares me terribly. I have nightmares even

after the MRI of my neck area saying there is no nerve damage and

the surgeon said it was norm and would return slowly. He said nerves

only heal at less than a mm per day.
