Guest guest
Hi Noel, This falls in the category of " anything " for what it is worth. Cliff About 13 weeks ago a girl in our area was found to have non hodgkins Lymphoma. There were two lumps on her neck and a mass in her chest. Her father was an engineer and a customer of a man in our church who filled him in on the flaxseed oil protocol. 'The doctors started chemo and her father started her on 6 tablespoons per day of Flaxseed oil with cottage cheese. Within two weeks the lumps on her neck were gone and the mass in her chest was reduced by 42%. A couple of weeks later the only thing showing on the X rays was a shadow where the mass had been. The doctors have continued the chemo treatments though there have been no detectable cancer cells now for over a month. I think the last chemo that had been planned is now finished. Her father has tried to talk about what they have been doing besides the chemo but the doctors seem to be avoiding the situation. He says they seem to realize that something unexpected is happening and don't want to talk about it. I have just heard from her father on May 13, 2001 that she is taking a maintenance amount of Flaxseed Oil, and there is no detectable cancer. Guest guest
Hi Noel: I also have NHL low. A malt type. I was given Rituxan. Rituxan is a monoclonal antibody that is for B cell lymphoma, CD 20 marker. It targets the cancer cells and spares the healthy cells. Low toxicity. Helps immune system become stronger because the body doesn't become weak as in chemo. Good stuff to be treated with either by itself or with chemo. Guest guest
For who is interested read the story of Ms. Bruins (www.kanker-actueel.nl/index_ee.html and go to remarkable stories no. 13) who cured from non-Hodgkin low malignity stage IV with only diet and nutritional supplements. I have to add that at least here in the Netherlands (Europe) an average of 10% of non-Hodgkin with low malignity cures without any treatment just by a wait and see approach. Due to my doctor is the chance to cure from non-Hodgkin with low malignity without chemo or another treatment but with only the use of diet and nutritional supplements between 25 and 40% . How high this percentage is with chemo and diet and supplements he didn't dare to say because the regular hospitals don't give any information about that. Gr. Guest guest
Hi Kees: I get treatment because I've gotten discomfort in my ribs. The lymphoma is in my lungs. The Doctor said I have 3 tiny dots in one lung and 2 in the other. I go to a lymphoma specialist and I trust him. Kees, pain in the ribs is scary. Even though the dots (nodes) are tiny, they create problems. I'm OK now, but I have low grade, stage 4, and it's incurable right now. It will probably come back to bother me again. Hopefully, one day there will be a cure for NHL low/malt. Olivia
Guest guest
Dear Olivia, I hope you don't think that I said with my message before that all patients with NHL shouldn't go to a doctor. If I was you I also should go to a doctor and specialist. The only thing what I wanted with my message is to share the information how the approach of the doctors in the Netherlands is at the moment in treating NHL. I hope you will win your fight and I understand the scary feelings and I wish you all the best and strength you need in this. Guest guest
It could be the Rituxan (rituximab). Please call your rheumatologist ASAP. Guest guest
Hi, I only had the first reaction - throat closing, rashes, etc the first time but 2nd round, they gave me meds to keep that from happening and for me, it's been a wonder drug! I would ask your ra doc about the headaches - I don't know whether or not rituxin causes that...You can always check Webmd.com - Sorry I couldn't be more help! Good luck! in SC ltdavis_jrdavis@... Guest guest
Hey Bonnie, I'm glad your infusion went so smoothly! Yea it's pretty tiring to sit there for the five hours. I can't believe they don't give you the prednisone it is part of the protocol but if you don't need it that's GREAT!!! Also, they give me some Benadryl each time. That's really comforting about your nurse's fathers reaction. It gives me hope!!! Well I hope you have a GREAT weekend! MicheleBB > > , > I got my 6mth or start of the second series of the Rituxin infusion this morning... Went in at 8:30 was done at 3:15.... Talk about a long and drawn out process.. > The important thing is that I don't feel terribly bad... I actually feel 30% better then my last two infusions. The last two wiped me out physically and mentally for two days... Today, I'm a little drowsy but over all I'm not that bad... Depending on how I feel tomorrow, I think I'll try to go to work and save my sick days for days when I'm really not able to make it. I have a decent job, so if I start to feel lousy, I will have the option of taking 1/2 day and leaving early. > As to your question in a previous post, I have taken prednisolone for the last 2 1/2 years at different milagrams depending on how I am doing... But I have never had to take any specific amount prior to the Rituxin infusion. I also have yet to have any major reactions to the rituxin... I asked my infusion nurse today and he said that all of his patients get the infusion for at least 5 hours to decrease the chances and he also dilutes the mixture by adding another medicine at the same time... I was feeling really tired at the time and forgot to write down what the added medicine was... but I'll ask again on the 24th when I get the two week infusion. > One of the nurses told me that her father was involved in the trial program with Rituxin after having mixed diseases for 20 years and said that after 2 years of the Rituxin, he was at 85% capacity for his past life... At 70 some years old that's pretty amazing... > So I'm trying to be very optimistic... > I also received a pneumonia vaccine today.... I wasn't expecting it, but my doc said he highly recomends all of his infusion patients to get it... He's pretty good at being pro-active.. > Bonnie > Hope all is well with you. >
Guest guest
Hello, I have had RA for about 6 years now and have gone through Remicade, Enbrel, Orencia and now I am taking Rituxin. I have been on Methotrexate and prednisone with each of these. The first half of the first Rituxin infusions didn't do anything for me but within a week of the second I had a good three months of no pain, no stiffness or swelling and a return of energy I hadn't had in 6 years. It was awesome. Symptoms started coming back after four months so I got the first half of my infusion and within 24 hours had a sinus infection followed by strep throat and then influenza A and finally pneumonia. I was finally well enough to get the second half last Friday and have had a high fever, diarrhea and vomiting ever since. The joint pain has stopped. I have never had an infection with any of the other drugs I have been on for RA. I am in and out of schools all day long working with teachers and never got sick. Now I can't stay well. My rheumy says to talk to my primary care who has been treating everything, but I can't imagine this is not rituxin related. Has anyone had a similar experience where a drug just seem to not work for their immune system but works wonders for their RA? -- in St. Louis
Guest guest
, I have been on Rituxzin for over a year now and had a total of 4 infusions during this time. This treatment has been heaven sent since all other meds did not work for me. The only thing I got lately in 11-09 was Bronchitis but with antibiotics it went away. I notice that I now have a lingering cough which my doctor stated was nothing serious and only gave me cough meds. Guest guest
, I've been on Rituxin since 2007/2008. I've been in remission for 2 yrs now and I have to say that this drugwas a godsend for me. Like Mousie,no other drug did it for me - either bad side effects or no help at all. We are all different as one drug is a miracle to one & a nightmare for another. in SC Sent from my iPhone On Jan 13, 2011, at 2:15 PM, Micaela A Gomez <pcortas1@...> wrote: > , > > I have been on Rituxzin for over a year now and had a total of 4 infusions during this time. Guest guest
Hi Ann, For me, I started seeing results (after the 2nd infusion) about 3 months afterwards. Most results after 6 mos but from what I understand, that is NOT the usual. I never had any side effects altho I had minor allergic reactions during the infusions. Personally, this drug has worked wonders for me. I've never been on orencia or remicade but everything else. And for me, Rituxin was the only drug that helped me! in SC Sent from my iPhone On Jan 13, 2011, at 6:25 PM, ann farrell <amf0626@...> wrote: > hi > > my name is ann from nj i'm on orencia going on 5th infusion, so far not helping > how is rituxin, does it work fast or does it take at least 6 months to work > any side effects, > i'm 58 had ra for 26 years > thanks for the help > > ann > > > > , > > > > I have been on Rituxzin for over a year now and had a total of 4 infusions during this time.
