I would want to have a look at those blood test results myself. Why

don't you call and ask them to send you a copy? Then if you don't

understand them, you can look online. Or you can ask us.

And I think that a second opinion is certainly sometimes called for.

This sounds suspicious to me, first because of the way the responded, and

secondly because of the lack of interest. There are specific markers on a blood

test that a physician requests when checking for RA, Lupis, and other

auto-immune deceases. Just the way they worded that sounds strange to me, like

they kind of didn't care one way or the other. It's no secret that medical

professional can develop and attitude, which for me (and my own attitude) is an

immediate indicator to start looking for someone else. You have a right to

request and receive copies of any and all tests they perform. If they are not

too dated a good GP or Rheumatologist will take a look at them and could give

you more information. But be prepared, they almost always want to request their

own tests. If you feel you have bona-fide symptoms of RA you should definitely

pursue it. In the last few days we have just discussed the importance early

diagnosis and treatment.

Hope this helps.

After my first rheumy appt I waited for my blood test results. They did

not call back so I called them. They still did not call so I tried

again and finally the nurse responded. She said she talked to the

doctor and that she said I did not have an auto immune disease and that

I did not have FM because I did not have enough pressure points. She

also said I should start physical therapy. This upset me because at the

appointment she said she still thought I had Fm even though I had only

8 pressure points because I was on pain meds. AND, I had told her I was

already in phys therapy. It is as if the doctor forgot all about me. I

do not think she even looked at my file. The nurse said " you are

welcome to come back for another appointment if you wish. " Now what?

Should I go back and try again or look for another doctor?

As others have advised, please get copies of your record and seek a

second opinion.

Was this your first appt?

I would go back for another appointment and then decide. While there, get copy

of all your tests or sign a release in case you want it sent to another doctor.

I would also make their practice administrator aware of what happened. I am not

sure if I would be happy getting results from a burse without having a followup

scheduled....

Hi,

I would talk to the doctor. Yes nurses have invaluable experience but

I doubt she is qualified to make an assessment about your condition

(i'm referring here to the observation she made at the apppointment,

otherwise you'd be seeing her wouldn't you?).

In Oz the specialist (Rheumatologist for eg.) sends results

& observation to our G.P. (your PCP) because, generally, appointments

are months apart.

The nurse may have just skimmed the article & that's why she missed

that you are already in physio, or the doc may have wrote down that

physio is recommended (aware that you are already par-taking in it)

I agree you should get a copy of your test results. I'd

recommend you get a copy of all results in the future, it's so much

easier than triing to track them down later.

Kami,

Yes, that was my first appointment with this doctor. I may still try

again but first I am going back to my primary doctor to see what she

thinks. I got a list of FM doctors from FMaware.org. By the way, how

is your daughter doing? My daughter has JA.---

My daughter is having a very rough winter. Her fingers are in constant pain and

what was working before is not working any longer.

I shared her plight with another list I am on and someone replied that my

daughter's symptoms and progression of " illnesses " sound alot like RSD.

http://www.neurologychannel.com/rsd/index.shtml Upon reading this, I was

stunned. My daughter's symptoms started 3 months after breaking her collar bone

in September 2007. I don't know WHAT to think now! I am just happy that she is

going to be seen in a few weeks! Pray for NO SNOW that day!

How old is your daughter? Feel free to email me offlist kamilleon@...!
