Guest guest
Dealon Bracelets, What you said about blurred vision jogged something in my mind. The next paragraph is directly from http://www.medicinenet.com/psoriatic_arthritis/page3.htm Have your eyes checked by an Ophthalmologist. Aside from arthritis and spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis can cause inflammation in other organs, such as the eyes, lungs, and aorta. Inflammation in the colored portion of the eye (iris) causes iritis, a painful condition that can be aggravated by bright light as the iris opens and closes the opening of the pupil. Corticosteroids injected directly into the eyes are sometimes necessary to decrease inflammation and prevent blindness. Inflammation in and around the lungs (pleuritis) causes chest pain, especially with deep breathing, as well as shortness of breath. Inflammation of the aorta (aortitis) can cause leakage of the aortic valve valves, leading to heart failure and shortness of breath. You know, they think they play with babies. I have ZERO faith in the medial profession. They're just plumbers and not very good ones at that. Just keep on going and hope for the best! Guest guest
Helen, I am sorry to hear that Nick is starting to have troubles again. He has been doing so well and getting him off the pred was huge. Its a bummer that he had problems with the mtx. Will they check his labs a little quicker given the troubles with mtx and now the attempt to restart it? Great news on the echo...sure hope the knee pain subsides quickly! Guest guest
-, As I said the the rheumy, Nicks problems are not major, its just those niggling little things that start to crop up and you notice more and now. He was totally free of any stiffness, no having to do hand stretching in the morning, full of energy and spunk. Now hes asked to drop out of extended day at school because hes too tired, slower to wake up/ get up in the mornings. Constantly hand stetching. a fever and sore knees 2 weeks ago and then his 1st trip to the school nurse this school year for his hot water bottles. We did 15mg of MTX this week, will do 17.5 next friday, then Saturday is remicade day and labs and we will see where we go from there. He gets labs every 4 weeks so we will be keeping a close eye on it. Hows Drea's weekend? hugs Helen and (9,systemic) -- In , " sonia1md " <sonia1md@...> wrote: > > Helen, > > I am sorry to hear that Nick is starting to have troubles again. Guest guest
Helen, It seems as though his respite from problems was just so short...It was exciting to hear how wonderful that Nick had been doing and I am just hoping the these " little " problems get kicked to the curb real quick before they become bigger. I hope the mtx remains an option and that his liver can tolerate it. Drea has done pretty good the last 4 days. Some stiffness and joint pain this weekend, but she has been on the go alot. Slumber party at a girlfriends on Friday (made it thru the whole night) and yesterday we spent a few hours working on her egyptian costume project for school. Thank goodness for this no-sew iron on stuff! I look for her to crash today and need more rest. She is usually that way following mtx. Hopefully she will break the pattern and make it to school this Monday! A short week with only 3 days so this could be her first week without absences! :-) Keep me posted on our Nicky Noodle. He has been in my prayers! Guest guest
Good Luck Kami! Love Rhuemys like that....hope this combo works for you.... Heidi in Mass. The only downside was my mood swings. The most important thing to me is that THAT combo worked. So.... after much consideration and talking about it, I asked him if we could try the MTX at a lower dose (I was taking 8 pills.. I will now take 4 pills) along with the Humira WEEKLY. He agreed. Well, he agreed as long as I would agree to go weekly instead of 10 days Humira. So.... I restarted MTX tonight and will inject on Saturday. He also gave me a new prescription for a Z-pak with a refill in case I get a rebound infection. So.... wish me luck!!!!! And again...for those of you afraid to take MTX, I was once in your shoes and fought hard NOT to take it but IT WORKS!!!! Guest guest
Thanks, Heidi. It has in the past so I am hopeful. The only difference is that I was doing 20 mg MTX weekly and injecting every 2 weeks. Now I will be doing 10 mg a week and injecting weekly. *crosses fingers, legs, and eyes that this pain will soon go away* *~ Kami ~* Re: [ ] Back On MTX Good Luck Kami!
