Guest guest
Hi everyone! Just an update for me. I have been mostly absent from the computer practically the entire summer. My 10 year old nephew came to stay with me after his mother was abducted from the Atlanta airport, beaten and repeatedly raped and was missing for about 2 weeks. Needless to say, he needed and deserved ALL of my time and attention outside of work. I must say, it was one of the saddest days of my life when I took him back to TN. Though I have been absent in body, my thoughts and prayers have been with my MGB family and Dr. R. I am very happy to announce that I am now down 98 lbs since 3-31-99. From 307 to 209. I am down 113 lbs from my highest weight of 322. I am off my CPAP for sleep apnea. No more stress incontinence. Only two times since coming out of the hospital I have vomited, both times my fault for eating too rapidly and therefore, getting too full. I am continuing to loose hair, but hopefully that will stop in the next month or two. Still off practically all meds, now taking only my Synthroid, Anti-inflammatory, and vitamins. I can see the muscles in my neck! Haven't seen those things in years. Went to my PCP last week, and the nurse could use the regular BP cuff on my arm - that hasn't happened in years. Just came back from 10 day trip to Acapulco. There was absolutely not one thing that I wanted to do that I did not do. This time last year, I could not have done those things. I would have been too tired, too fat and too sick. My tray table came down, and no seat belt extender on the plane! I wore shorts & a bathing suit (without a T-shirt covering it even in the pool), haven't done that in public in years. I went horseback riding. I didn't mind having my picture taken. Life is good! Actually, life is great. I am working out at the gym 5 mornings a week, I walk 3 days a week, I do strength training with weights 3 days a week, and I am now trying to learn Yoga. I was in 3x-4x, now I wear xl - L......yes, I said Large, I have some pants and tops that are now LARGE. I was in 30-32 jeans, haven't bought any replacements so don't know what size those would be. I can cross my legs! I haven't been in any car lately that the seat belt feels too tight! I can tolerate almost anything that I want to eat or drink - but I don't really care for the junk that I used to eat and drink. I occasionally have some decaf coffee, most always just drink water, occasionally have crystal light or sugar-free koolaid. I don't care for beef like I used to, not addicted to chocolate anymore, no soft drinks ever. Low fat milk is a sort of gamble for me, I can tolerate it one day, but not the next. Bread is still hard for me unless it is crusty or toasted. The bottom line is this - I would do it again in a nanosecond! I thank God every day for Dr. R and for my Insurance Companies approval of my procedure. It is the little things that means the most. Don't get me wrong, the 98 lbs is wonderful, but it is the little things I have regained as a result of the loss that makes the surgery worthwhile. Guest guest
, Thanks for shareing your success story with us. I needed it today more than you'll ever know. I know your an angel like your computer name says, I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Rutledge on the 11th of Oct., I guess I've been starting to get the jitters. When I was waiting for approval I seemed to lose sight of all the reasons I really wanted to do this. Seemed that just fighting for the approval was the objective. Then after getting it, I started getting scared, maybe cause now it is a reality. and all those possible risk are now really possible. I knew when I read your letter today it was Hod's way of calming me and the answer to my prayers. Just hearing how successful your journey has been renews my belief that the Lord has allowed this to happen for me now just at the right time in my life. I know it's what's meant to be. thanks again for shareing and for being an instrument of peace for me tonight. I will rest better.
