Guest guest
Hi ! I had my son in 2008 and I took enbrel and lo dose pred the whole pregnancy. Be sure to register with OTIS when you become pg. They study RA meds and pg. The best tip I have is to have a supportive OB and rheum. It's also great if they can talk from time to time. My docs did a great job coordinating care and upping my pred on delivery day. Congrats on working toward building your family. I have had two great pgs, deliveries, and kiddos. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. This is Steph in VA. I'm 32 and I have had RA since 1999. Most of the research I read said you should stop methotrexate for 3-6 months before trying to get pregnant. I stopped MTX June 1, 2009 and stopped my birth control in December. My rheumy suggested I talk to a a high risk OB before getting pregnant for advice. That worked out because the high risk OB sent me to an infertility doctor. The infertility doc said it was better for me to run some tests to see if there are any problems. Well, one of the tests revealed some growths on my uterus that could prevent me from getting pregnant. I'm glad they were found now so they can be removed before they become a problem. Your elbows are probably hurting because the MTX was keeping that symptom at bay. I have been talking with OTIS as well. In addition to tracking pregnant women on biologics (I take Remicade) they also would like to know how long it takes women with RA to get pregnant. Good luck. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Guest guest
Steph, do you see a Repro endo in NoVa? I saw michael dimattina in the Arlington area and I liked him a great deal. I also went to a group in Bethsda-dc and they did some sketchy things like billing me for embryo transfer on days I had three min blood draws. I never had ivf?! Guest guest
hello maria, welcome to this ra group. it's an AWESOME group with GREAT people who suffer from ra & tell their on stories.my name is melynda & i'm 40yrs.old.i have had jra since i was 5yrs.old. i was told that i would never be able to get pregnant.iwas so disappointed! so it was hard for me back in the days, with boyfriends & all. back in 1987, i met this guy & we started dating. it started to get really SERIOUS.we dated for 5yrs. he even asked me to marry him but my dad was not too happy about that.so i LOST THE LOVE OF A LIFETIME! back then i was 22 or 23yrs.old,my dad had a problem with me being with a guy ,due to the fact i was physically challenge. so when i finally got the COURAGE to tell my dad how i felt, he listened but still didn't xcept it. believe u me, i was balling my eyes out!!! so i went on with my life, then in 1994, i was LUCKY to find my second LOVE OF A LIFETIME,PETER. i told myself if i was LUCKY again to find someone, i was going against all odds & doing what was BEST FOR MELYNDA!!! i did we ended up getting married in 1996, I WAS THE HAPPIEST I THOUGHT I COULD EVER B AGAIN!! low & behold i went to the dr.for my annual, the dr.well how has ur menstral cycle been? i told her, it's been off & on & i.ve been very tired lately. trying to go to collage & deal with my pain was HARD but i did it!! so she said i'm going to due a pregnancy TEST on u, i said for what u told me i could NEVER have children. then she said we could have a MIRACLE on our hands. so she put the test STAT! like 4hrs.later she called & said, " MELYNDA UR PREGNANT. " i was so over whelmed,i started crying with PRAISE OF JOY.i was actually pregnant, something i was to never xperience... i did not no who to tell first,i told my older sister, roxanne.she was like what? i started crying again.it was soo hard for me to b at peter piper's with my nieces & nephews & hold all this GREAT INFO.....that night i called peter & asked,if he could please come over, cuz we didn't live together while we were engaged,he said yes i'll b right over..... anyway, maria i sure u have read a book already.lol the BEST THING WAS MY DAUGHTER,ALYSSA WAS NOT PLANNED,BUT IT WAS IN GOD'S PLANS,i have no regrets.at the time i was on several meds one including, mtx & prednisone,etc.. that was for 4 months not knowing i was pregnant.of course, i was scared due to the meds but when i actually went back to the dr.she STOPPED them all. I HAVE NEVER FELT SO GREAT AS WHEN I WAS PREGNANT WITH ALYSSA,THE DR. WAS RIGHT HE SAID, U WILL HAVE NO PAIN & GUESS WHAT HE WAS RIGHT,IT WAS LIKE MY JRA WAS GONE. I WOULD JUST B ON THE GO,GO,GO,. SO MARIA, MY ADVICE WOULD B TO TALK TO TALK TO UR OBGYN & PCP SO THEY BOTH KNOW HOW TO HELP U & answer any questions u & ur hub might have..... if u don't mind me asking, maria. how severe is ur ra? the only reason i'm asking is cuz everyone is so TOTALLY DIFFERENT. if u ever want to talk,i'll b here.god bless ur new friend ~melyndagamez~ [ ] Re: planning pregnancy Hi , Welcome to the group.
