Guest guest
I am also a cancer survivor...ovarian 16 years ago. I can not take any RA meds either. You are not alone. I have recently found some relief from the fatigue and inflamation by strictly adhering to a gluten free diet. It is not the answer for all. Think positive thoughts and never give up. Raniolo From: Anita <amruff65@...> Subject: [ ] Fighting RA without " RA " meds, anyone else out there? Date: Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 6:26 PM Â Hi, I guess I've been in denial about RA, even though I was diagnosed at age 3 with JRA. I was diagnosed with Lupus 2 years ago this month and RA is showing it's ugly face daily in different joints. Due to years of NSAIDS my liver is damaged/toxic and reacts to any of the meds my rheumy has suggested. I am also a Cancer survivor which adds to the 'no you can't take that' list. I just want to know if anyone out there is in the same situation or am I the lucky woman out? I'm 45 years old and my life has drastically changed. Acceptance is hard, I need support or someone to talk to. My employer is worried about money and of course, my work ethic is Ideal, I work more than the able bodied. So, stress is elevated right now. I have had to move in with my dad, just so I can afford to go to the doctors I need to see. I am trying physical/occupational therapy and see what options I have, if any. I work in an office environment and my hands are suffering big time. I used to pride myself on being independent and now I am learning to say no (feel guilty when I do) and stop when I am tired. I would appreciate emails, if you don't mind. My pc time is limited in the evenings due to fatigue from working and the Lupus. I hope each of you have a few hours of pain free time at some point. Thanks for listening and may peace find our joints. anita

2.Yoga/Stretch.                     3.Work out with weights.                      4.Jog/Speed walk;etc.                     5.Eat right. I've tried Herbs but that is to Toxic to my Liver through time. I'm in a rough situation aswell,as you can tell. My age is 46 as of Oct.And self Employed,so it's close to impossible to afford any Health ins.So i have to work harder to achieve my goals. I still have Flair ups and most of the time their intense but i deal with them. Compared to other victims of RA:I must be doing something right. I will be visiting Wake Forest in the Summer time;to find out what type of RA i have. Keep in mind:We must stay active to sustain damage!. Good luck and JESUS be with you. . Guest guest
, my endocrinologist is at Baptist In Winston-Salem, but not my rheumatologist. My first one was, but he re-located to Atlanta, leaving them with too few rheumatologists. What doctor are you seeing there? Guest guest
When my wonderful first rheumatologist at Baptist relocated to Atlanta, the one that took over his patients was completely overwhelmed and could not handle them all. After that, I found one in High Point. He is a good one, just not as personable as my first one. I hope you get a good one. Maybe they've been able to hire someone else by now. Guest guest
Hi Anita, my journey began in early 2009 with fatigue, RA was diasgnosed in jan 2010. I had to quit my job, I was working with icebags on my hands fulltime for 4 months, when I asked for " part-time " job, they did not want me. I am at home for a year now, getting better only after a strict diet for wheat, not for metotrexate, plaquenil, deltacortil and etol. the medicine will prevent to procede of the illness, but we have to help our bodies to win the game. try the diet. no fried food, no wheat, no corn. I am not in remission yet, I can feel it in my fingers, but I believe I will be better. I am taking the peels, rest along the day if I need, I don't force to walk, move around or anything if I think I can not do. my family and friends think I am in depression also but I am not. pain, fatigue and fragility all removes my energy. I am waiting and watching, I will need my small joints in hands and wrist so I do some exercise very very softly especially rotational ones. you can find some in internet. don't be sad. I hope wee all get better and work again someday. I am 43 years now, I was full updated my books for work (I forgot to say, I am a doctor, funny !! I believed so many months that my fatigue is psychologic, I did not love my clinic etc ) ), I am looking my library at home now, wondering if I can find energy to help someone in medicine again. wish we all find it. You survived cancer, so you can do it now with RA. RA is not curable, there is no treatment.. I learned it in university of course but actually learned it two months ago when I have an infection. It blowed up. I tried to count the peels I took for a year, what did they do? no treatment. but they will prevent the deformation, subluxation of our joints etc. food is important. search net RA and diet, you will find patient's experiments with RA. Be patient. with love.. ender.
