Guest guest
Hi Sharron, I wouldn't postpone surgery, this " Chiari thing " causes a lot of different things to happen. I have noticed lately that my eyelashes and eye brows as well as my hair has begun to get thin, infact the eyebrows are quite sparse LOL! Chiari certainly could have caused the problem with your teeth. When I was 27 I " lost " my teeth all of a sudden they loosened up and the gums receded I now think it was caused by the Chiari. But since i wasn't dx until april of this year I can only assume that was the cause. Hang in there!!!! Feel free to email me if you want to " talk " Don't know a whole lot about chiari except what I have learned from this wonderful group of people and reading the sites...... Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. You will get to meet new friends here. I know some of the things you are going though been down that road many times. I am Lori mom of 3 kids but I work. I wish I could stay home but can't Lori -- New Member Hi all, My name is . I am a sah, to 4 children ages 11,8,3, and 2. My 2 yr old, n, was diagnosed by the developmental nuerologist we have seen since he was 7 months old as autistic last month. He tested in the lower range of severely autistic. n was a preemie born 14-15 weeks early and very sick due to us having incompatible blood, with less than a 10%chance to survive. He has always been in therapy and globally developmentally delayed. He started to talk and then around 18 months old he lost all of his words and went back to infant babbling and cooing and seemed to also lose the ability to understand or comprehend anything spoken to him. He also stopped progressing in many other areas. We started intensive therapy last May and the progress was still very slow. He also has a lot of weird behaviors and things that he does. At 2 he still does not have any words. But we are working on it. He also has chronic lung disease, asthma, allergies, sensory integration disorder, does not walk very well, and 2 weeks ago had major surgery for severe gastroesophogeal reflux. I am looking to meet some new friends who understand and just be a mom instead of a therapist, secretary, advocate. I wouldn't change a day I've ever had with son, even though it has been a long road I have learned so much from him.

Guest guest
HIya .. I know how frustrated you are .. been there .. done that .. got the t -shirt!! As far as your physicians .. have you by any chance talked to your insurance agent? They might be able to give you a waver number that will allow you to go to another rheumatologist sooner without having the "ok letter" from your doctor. Especially since he no longer is on your insurance plan .. it might be worth a try. For the sores in your mouth .. sometimes they are caused by yeast. Thrush to be exact .. limiting your sugar intake, less acidic drinks and foods, and a mouth rinse for oral lesions will help. For the ones that are really hurting .. you can numb them with a bit of ora-gel on a Q-tip and dab the lesion. Yeast needs sugar to feed on .. any carbohydrate that turns to sugar in the system (potatoes, breads, pastas) will also increase your sugar level .. thus feeding the yeast even more. I found going on a "diabetic diet" for about a month was enough to clear the lesions along with a prescription drug called Diflucan. Good luck .. Chapman wrote: Hi everyone, My name is Chapman. I am 41 yrs old. I have been having problems for aleast 5 years. At present I have sores in my nose and mouth. I have had Pleuisy twice this year. I have the butterfly on my face as well other numerous things to mention. I have bad headaches too. At first I thought what was wrong with me was neurology. I went to the Cleveland Clinic, but they could find nothing other than atrophy of the blood vessels. The neurologists did mention that I may want to consider Lupus. At the time, I wasn't putting things together from my past epsiodes. I came back home and to my surprise my MD had stopped taking my insurance. At this point, I came down with Pleuisy for the 2nd time this year. I have been paying full price out of my pocket while waiting to get into another MD, which is scheduled for 11-4-03. I have not been officially DX with Lupus. I believe I have Lupus but I am having an extremely difficult time with physicans. I can not get into a rhemuologists without the referral of my MD. I can not keep paying my present MD everything out of pocket. Any advice that anyone can toss my way I would appreciate. As you can tell I'm new at this game. Guest guest
Marcella, We DO know what you are going through, and we empathize, sympathize, and recognize all of what you had to say. LOL Waiting for a dx can be frustrating, daunting, and scary, and most importantly of all make you feel completely isolated from the so-called normal people. That's why we are here, to help you cope, and to help you feel less isolated and more informed and well armed to deal with doctors, medications, and symptoms. How this works is we are all more or less ill with Lupus and related conditions, OR we have family members who are ill. We share information that is as up to date and pertinent as we can locate, we share wisdom, experience, tears, laughter, fears and desires...because WE UNDERSTAND. You will never be judged, here, and are expected not to judge others in the group. Feel free to check the main Lupies message board daily, or as often as you feel up to it, and join in any conversation that is posted to it. Ask questions, share a joke, vent, cry, whine (We offer cheese with that one.), moan, groan, and since we have members all over the world in every time zone, someone is almost always online and will eventually answer your post. Keep writing, it helps a lot. Again, welcome, and hugs, MM aka: Mike, one of the moderators
Guest guest
Dear Marcella, Hi My name is Carol. I have been a member of this group for a long time. You have joined into a group of loving, supportive, caring, kind, with a weird, bent, oh just going to say it crazy sense of humor. We have all laughed, cried, pouted, whined, grouched....grrrrrrrr...lol with each other. This is the ONE Safe Place where you can do all this and more. All we will ask is do you want Whine with cheese and crackers or with a Hugh soft hug. We can pray with you, for you, We are just so flexible you will not be able to soak it all in. I'm from Gastonia, North Carolina. I live in side the city limits of a very quaint small town called McAdenville, or as we call it Christmas Town USA. I'm married to a wonderful man.... Ralph, He is 54 years old and I'm a young 44 years old. We have no children. But we do have 3 wonderful dogs, Bubba the big baby who happens to weigh about 60 lbs...lol then there is Millie, she is a rescue doggie... she is part Rottie and something else. She is a sweet heart, Then there is big, bad, evil Baby... she is part mini pincher and corgi. But thinks she is a rottie with a attitude...lol She is my protector of the house where bubba is the come in have a seat want me to show where the jewelry is........lol Ok back to me. I have lupus, Fibro, RA, or OA, Re: New Member Dear Marcella,Hi my name is and I'm a 23 yr-old female from Halifax, NS. I'm new to Lupus and this group as well, and when I saw that you live "next door", I just had to respond! I've found this group to be really informative and supportive since I joined 2 days ago and have already shared some chuckles and shed some tears -- just from reading others' messages. It seems that everybody in this group knows exactly what it's like to bounce back and forth from one health problem to another, so however bad you feel, just remember that we're all going thru many of the same things too. What kind of specialist are you seeing in 5 weeks, a rheumatologist? I hope to hear back from you soon.Take care of yourself,."Hi my name is Marcella and I just join in yesterday...don't really know how this work but I'm gonna give it a try.I'm 48 years old female from N.B. Canada. I have 2 children and a grandson and 2 more on the way and I'm waiting for being diagnose for lupus. Been seeing the doctor for years telling him I was always tired and couldn't sleep well and that I ached all over. I felt he didn't listen to me and that it was all in my head...""The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!" Guest guest
I have been reading some of the post on this support group for about two weeks. I was not sure if I wanted to post anything or not but I find myself going to the sight and reading more often. Maybe it is because I am reading and relating to some of the problems. I found out that I had IPF March 26, 2007. I had a bronchoscopy in April it was inculusive and a lung biopsy in May confirming the IPF. I can relate to everyone when I read the problems with the predizone: WEIGHT gain, mood swings and insomia and I can't remember who posted it but the basketball head sums it up. I am under the treatment of doctor Mark Steele at Duke Medical. I have a wonderful family and freinds they are really good with support. My wife (Kathy)and I will be married 29 years on the 16th. I have two children DeWayne 28 and 26 and 6 grandkids. I spent 27 years in the Army and Army National Guard. Guest guest
It is not a "GUN" it is a "RIFLE" remember the song? We purchased the bikes from Pep Boys Auto. They are only 250's and called Baja. They are actually Suzuki's made in China $1300 bucks each. We get 60-70 miles to gal. And it is a perfect bike for her to learn on. I ahave had 8 previous bikes (still scare me) and I love them. Plates, insurance is also cheap due to the cost. They run great. She dropped in driveway 1st week trying to go up our steep drive by herself. No scars on the bike just her elbow and eago. I assume you are Retired Army. My Br-in -law retired in early 80's from Army. I could only stand 2 yrs. Guest guest
Sher, Thank you. Yes, I did like Gen. Schwartzkoph. He was then and is now a very cermatic person. As a soldier I was very proud to serve under his command. I was very pleased that got a responce as quick as I did. What I'm felling about this group is a very warm and caring sence of family envioment. And I like it. I want to be apart of it.
