Hi Kristi..sorry it took awhile to get to your email.

My platelets are always very low too. they should be between 250-450 I

think and mine always stay around 110-120. My rheumy has made that my

baseline count now. He said we have plenty of platelets to spare but if it

gets

to 100, he will send me to a hematologist. That he would only worry if it

got to 50..said its caused by the medication I take for my r/a. Medication

induced neutopenia. I've had my platelets between 110-120 for about 3 1/2

yrs.

I don't think the pred will help with the low platelets but removing some

meds may help.

Hope this helps some...hugs..a

My platelets have always been on the low end of normal (140's) but they

if this is dangerous? I am off all my medicine right now except the bc I

have been on for 2 1/2 years and tylenol / aleve. Doctor is prescribing

Pred for 2 weeks for a flareup. Will this Help with the Platelets or make

it worse?

Red Blood Count is Low

HCT is Low

HGB is a little Low

Everything else on CBC is normal.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you for your reply. My doctor basically told me the same thing, just a

few days later. The thing that still scares me is that they are that level OFF

medication. I had not started the Prednisone yet and I dont start the

Methotrexate until Mid-March. We are going to keep checking them every 10-14

days to make sure they dont get worse. Thank you for putting my fears at rest

until she got back to me.

I have had a good run with mobic. It was my first rx even before my diagnosis.

It helps me a lot. Every once in while I go off one of my meds for a couple of

days to see how effective it is. Mobic is very effective and I have not had any

side effects.
