Why don't they want me taking my meds?

My plaquenil prescription is almost gone and the bottle says I have 3 refills

(which equates to 3 months between rheumy visits). Went to get it refilled the

other night and their computer said they couldn't refill it without contacting

the doctor. Went to try to pick it up today and they said they called the doc,

who said that I need to call him before he will authorize the refill? What the

bleep? Another effort by the evil RA overlords to keep my RA active, apparently.

p.s. does anyone know if you use your hands a lot when your RA is very active,

does that damage them more than if you just sat around quietly not using your

hands? My hands are killing me but I have to keep working and using my hands

makes them hurt worse, but if using them isn't increasing the damage then I

guess I can live with it.
