Guest guest
Heidi, Graves' disease is an autoimmune disorder in which antibodies interfere with the normal functioning of the thyroid. The antibodies cause the thyroid to produce an excess of thyroid hormones, leading to hyperthyroidism. Other parts of the body can also be affected by the antibodies - the eyes and the skin, for example. An increase in blood pressure can be one of the symptoms of Graves' disease. It was for me. Although Graves' disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism, there can be other reasons for hyperthyroidism or for the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. http://endocrine.niddk.nih.gov/pubs/graves/ Not an MD On Tue, Mar 8, 2011 at 8:42 AM, Heidi Kimball <hkimball48@...> wrote: > , > > I have an appointment on April 1, 2010.
