Good day, friends,

Question about bruising or bleeding under the skin, please.

I've been on Plaquenil for some years without side-effects, while the generic

caused a severe rash.

In November 2009 I developed a kidney infection as well as a flare in the right

shoulder. My GP thought it was tendonitis at first, but when I went back a week

later, he gave me Celebrex, two a day, with two repeats. I finished the first

lot he prescribed and didn't fill the next repeats.

However, wandering pains kept coming and going, not quite as bad as the shoulder

was, but enough to be bothersome and annoying. (I have a high pain threshold and

can usually work through most hurts.) I went back to the Rheumy on the 19th of

January, who told me to take Celebrex daily, up to two a day. I've taken two a

day last week, but then switched to one a day from Friday. Pain is much better

since then.

This morning (25th), I've been making some Annual Reports, printing and stapling

them. After doing 40 copies (80 staples) I went to wash my hands and noticed a

red, angry mark on the heel of my right hand. I thought I'd touched something

and it was a stain, but then noticed it was a bruise.. Bright red, seemingly

spreading. It is just two hours since I started using the stapler. I've always

bruised easily, but this feels somehow different. It doesn't hurt at the moment.

I've got a stomach ulcer and am always careful with medication. We've tried

twice to eradicate the bacteria, but I haven't had a test since the last blast

of medication.

Could Celebrex be the cause of this? And if it is doing such damage to my hand

in a short period of time, what could it do to the ulcer? I'm from a family with

stomach ulcers, with both parents having had them, and I've been tested for the

first time when I was about 24.

Thank you for any comments.
