Guest guest
Hi Carol.  I find it is very hard to get over a upper respitory illness. I have been sick with this for over 2 weeks, after finishing a week of antibiotics, and a round of the Z Pack. It also set off Asthma. I have been on high doses of Pred. to clear this up infection. It just takes time for it to be gone. I am also using my Nebulizor and an inhaler. I so know what you are dealing with.  I am now tapering off the Pred. and will be on my reg. dose of 10 mgs. a day by this weekend. I hope you will feel better soon. With me, I won't be better until my coughing stops. The only thing that stops it is Pred. and the Nebulizer. I am always amazed at the junk my cough produces. I can see why it takes so long to clear up.  Wishing you better days ahead. I know you will feel much better when you are healed of your URI.  Hugs,  Barbara From: CAROLT <IM4BUCS2000@...> Subject: [ ] Prendisone Date: Monday, December 13, 2010, 10:41 AM  Hi All My Dr just put me on prendisone for this awful flu, respritory, cold that noone can understand. I will be on for 12 days. I have already been through amoxicillan and a zpac and 7 weeks of this. Question. My husband has some concerns about the addiction factor. I do also. I do not take anly steroids for my RA. I have stuck to a pretty good cocktail of mobic, plaquinel and tramadol and cymbalta. Along with that I take something for restless leg at night. Anyone have any experience , thoughts. I am thinking I should call my rheumy again and see what she thinks. I just want to feel well again not like someone is stabbing me in the chest. Been through the chest xrays and blood tests for pneumonia and both are clear. Any thoughts. As always thanks for your kindness and support. Praying for better days Carol
Guest guest
Hi Carol, I am so anti-prednisone it's not funny BUT there are times when you have to bite the bullet and take it, just as long as you wean yourself off of it slowly. I've had RA for 11 years now and my cocktail of methotrexate works wonders and I'm so well controlled but when a serious flare comes along, I will take the prednisone. I was in the hospital a year ago for a week, all over a big toe, I almost lost it, I was beggin for the prednisone at that point, finally got it and it did wonders. I was on it for about 6 weeks and then a slow wean. All is good now, thank Goodness. Good Luck. in PA On Mon, Dec 13, 2010 at 10:41 AM, CAROLT <IM4BUCS2000@...> wrote: > > > Hi All > My Dr just put me on prendisone for this awful flu, respritory, cold that > noone can understand.
