Has anyone had the SI Joint becoming inflammed due to RA? I am getting ready to

have surgery on my SI joint so I can walk. I am unable to stand or walk due to

this joint being inflammed all the time. I did not even know this joint existed

let alone have RA attack it.

I have pain that was diagnosed as an SI problem, but I'm having an MRI tomorrow

to make sure that's really where it is. I don't think my SI pain is from RA. I

think it's from heaving out two big babies with huge, pumpkin-like heads :)

ha! Anyway, cortisone injections that were done by a spine surgeon into the

joint helped me a bit. Have you tried this route? What kind of surgery are you

having? Nerve ablation?? Hope you feel better and are up and around soon, Kate

Hey Kate,

I am having the Nerve Ablation the injections were a waste of time. It is so bad

I have a hard time standing and walking. I have not had any kids, we adopted. So

it is not OA, I have sever OA in my knees I can tell the difference. It was

suprising that oral prednisone helped a lot. However, we are limiting my usage

of that because of the many other health issues I have. He is afraid that my

adrenial gland will go hay wire. My Rheumy said that the joint looks normal and

is just inflammed all the time because of RA. So I am pretty SOL until I get the

surgery.
