Guest guest
Dennis, Call around to other dentists and see if you can't find someone who'll do them cheaper. In a city near us, there are some places that only make dentures. My husband got some new ones a couple of years ago, and they cost less than $1000. I believe they cost about $500. I hope you can find a cheaper place. Sue On Feb 16, 2010, at 6:52 PM, Dennis W wrote: > after getting off the phone with our dentist! Guest guest
Dennis, is there a dental program near you or any kind of training program that fits dentures? A training program would likely see her for greatly reduced fees. Kate f Sent from my iPhone On Feb 16, 2010, at 5:52 PM, Dennis W <betnden@...> wrote: after getting off the phone with our dentist! We understood that we had all expenses covered for Betty's teeth and now we need $1,000 more to get dentures in her mouth. I'm not happy about the discussion on the phone just now and would love to do something about it other than going broke. I know some of this was discussed here but I need to know ways to get past the high prices. How can it be done if there's even a way to make things better? Guest guest
No, Kate, we looked into that before and didn't find anything. Maybe if I can raise enough of a stink things may start changing. I'm thinking of reporting his office for lying by omission and any other charges I can think of. Now that Betty is wearing the new teeth, I can feel comfortable in digging at him without repercussion. It might even be fun... Guest guest
Oh, so Betty already has the teeth then. I don't know what you can do about the cost now. When I got a crown a few years ago, I had the same situation. They told me a crown would cost a certain amount; then when it was done, it was a couple of hundred dollars more. I did complain, but it didn't do any good. I haven't been back to a dentist since, LOL. I need to find a new one. I need at least two more crowns, and I expect they've gone up even more by now. Guest guest
Dennis, the only one I know of is the Baylor College of Dentistry and I don't know if they do plates or not, but they are in Dallas and that's a haul from East Texas, I know. It might be worth the trip if they would offer a significant savings. I will try to get in touch with my nephew, who runs a dental practice, and see if he can offer any advice or know of resources for you. > > after getting off the phone with our dentist! Guest guest
This can be a big help since I need a bit of work, too, such as one tooth 'rebuilt', and the lower denture. For just this part, the dentist wants me to pay more than $2,000, and we can't afford it all because a dentist has NEVER given a discount like a doctor commonly does. I do plan to check into a couple of suggestions before even considering such a big investment. Guest guest
Yeah, Sue, she already had the dentures waiting and had decided to go ahead with the work because she really needed the teeth. I'm wanting to find out what options I have for a complaint against him and to try to get a better deal on my work. I really didn't like it, but anything for Betty! Even though I'm not happy with it. I'm still fuming... Dennis in eastexas On Wed, Feb 17, 2010 at 9:18 PM, marysue <marysue@...> wrote: > > > Oh, so Betty already has the teeth then.
