Guest guest
Hang in there......it's all worth it, when it works. I take 0.8cc MTX each week by injection (yes, it nauseates me for 12-24 hours) and the pre-filled Humira syringe medication every other week. The PEN hurts more! Tell the nurse to inject more slowly....... I bet you'd find you do it better, if you give it a try. My rheumatologist insisted that I continue the MTX when he started me on Humira. He reduced the MTX from 1 cc each week to 0.8 cc weekly. A little less but it's also a little less nausea I think. He said the combination of the 2 works wonderfully and he's right. I also take 1 Plaquenil/day and Sulfasalazine tabs 2x/day. So that's 4 big RA drugs (along with Leucovorin to eliminate mouth sores) but it's all worth it because I have no symptoms. I've had RA 15 years and have felt the best during the last year on the above medications. Good luck to you, Joy in OH From: sgp2525 @gro ups.com Sent: Thursday, February 05, 2009 4:16 PM Subject: [ ] Humira I'm a bit behind on how to use these posts but, anyway, someone can correct me, if necessary. Regarding Humira, thank you for the two people who took the time to respond. It is a relief that someone has been down this road before. I'm just sorry that we have to deal with this disease, however, it sure helps to have support! I took my first injection today with the PEN courtesy of the nurse at my rheumatologist' s office. She injected it into my upper thigh and it TRULY does HURT! It will be so worth the pain if it relieves the symptoms of RA. I'm on the two week regimen. Thanks for all your info. and tips. Anytime ANYONE has any comments on Methotrexate and/or Humira, please POST. I am to continue both drugs, according to my doc.
