Guest guest
I wanted to mention my eye exam, in case someone else is having eye problems. Six months ago while waiting to get in to see the MS Specialist, I went to see my eye doctor (Optometerist) for my regular exam and ended going back the following week to get 'more extensive' testing. I was diagnosed with INO. Also, when I did see the specialist on July 24, he found double vision in my left eye when I look to the left. ***INO (from mult-sclerosis.org web page): Multiple sclerosis is the most common cause of internuclear ophthalmoplegia and in MS it is usually unilateral. **** Yesterday I told my eye doctor that the vision didn't feel like it had changed but I feel itchy eyes a lot and have sort of dry flakes along the lashes when I wake up. He did an exam where he put dot of dye in my eyes and used a special light to view them. He said I have an infection in my eyes that shows up as a series of teeny little dots in a straight line the shape of my lowere eye lid. It is caused by not closing my eyes all the way while I am sleeping (and I don't know they aren't closed because I'm asleep). He gave me a sample of eye drops to try and said if it isn't cleared up by next week when I go back he will have me get one that is... I forget the word but I processed it to mean thicker. They are Sustane Ultra lubricant eye drops. I'm to use them 4 times a day. ............... His exams include a photo of the inside of the eyes and also a field of vision test that is computerized. He was able to show me the photos of 2005, 6 monhs ago and yesterday side by side (2005 is before I had any idea of the MS). There isn't that much change in my eyes. It is comforting to me to know there isn't much change. He also pointed out to me the place where the nerves go to the brain. And, talked to me about how MS and demyleonation can affect the eyes.
