Guest guest
I think a big issue is the quality of the food. Most often people eat white flour and think the gluten is the problem. It could be that there is no nutrition or that the flour contains phytic acid, a mineral inhibitor. Pasteurized milk contains lots of added synthetic vitamins and is heated to the point that it is a dead liquid. Lactose is a sugar, not a protein. Casein could actually cause free-radical damage. Legumes are difficult to digest. If those foods are prepared properly they cause less or no distress for most people. Grains and beans should be soaked, milk should be raw or fermented. Besides which, we don't all have the same metabolic types. We have different needs. I personally have been doing well with lots of saturated fats. Not everyone can eat these without having problems. Diet should be specific on an individual basis. If the BBD works for you, then stay with it. If it doesn't, find out what does work. > > > > There are many people here on the Best Bet Diet (BBD) and it doesn't seem to always work perfectly for everyone. >
Guest guest
Hi , I'm with you on all that. I forget that people eat white flour. This weekend I am SO excited as I managed to stand all the while I brushed my teeth. OK I leant on the sink for balance but I haven't been able to stand for that long for many years. It's not just a one-off either as I've done it 4 times so far at 2 minutes a shot. The BBD has been working for me, and many of their suggested supplements and CCSVI supplements but it has got to be down to CST (Cranio-sacral therapy) as I've upped my sessions to every two weeks and it feels like the beginning of something significant is happening. It took MacDougall 4 years - I am only on my third on the BBD, so here's hoping. I'm not changing A THING! Janet To: mscured From: alpdesigns1@... Guest guest
I was having trouble following the BBD. Never satisfied; eating tons of gluten-free chips, cakes, cookies, trying to feel satisfied. Not full, exactly, just satisfied. I decided I was eating too much gluten-free crap, so I cut out grains altogether. So far, so good. I'm Polish, Irish and German. Do you think I missed my dairy? You bet. So I decided to add some fermented goat milk kefir, some sheep milk yogurt, and butter, to the mix. NOW I feel satisfied. I know the dairy is contrary to the BBD. I know the saturated fat is contrary to the BBD. But honestly, I feel so much better. I am satisfied when I eat. And I am losing weight (go figure). I worry about the fats--I know Swank's diet worked well. And the saturated fats are contrary to that. Am I doing myself harm? I don't honestly know. I just know I'm feeling better physically than when I followed BBD to a T. It's hard to know what is right. I think part of it is an adjustment period, and there are also seasonal fluctuations. I relied on gluten-free breads and pastas, nuts, avocado, etc. a lot at first until I adjusted. Also, I was a lot more raw last summer, then as winter set in I wanted cooked grains more. And mashed potatoes made with olive oil and hemp milk. In the last month or so I've started to gravitate towards more raw again. FWIW, I used to be able to get away with goat cheese on a rare occasion but I now react to it. It popped up on the ELISA along with the cow dairy products. It's quite possible that your body is in a bit of a re-building mode right now and you are needing the extra protein and fat. I think that's where I've been at anyways. I did a lot of fasting last year and felt I was getting depleted. So far this year, just some occasional short water fasts, like 32-36 hours. Waiting until May for a Master Cleanse. Crystal
Guest guest
I felt better when I added animal fats to my diet. It's because my metabolic type required it. Maybe yours does too. It always comes back to the diversity in humans. One diet cannot possibly be right for everyone. > > I was having trouble following the BBD.
