Guest guest
When the cough is totally gone, and you don'td cough up anymore junk. It can take 3 weeks or more. URI's are hard for us to get over.  Hope you feel all better soon.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Patti Yuswak <WhtBC10@...> Subject: [ ] How Well is Well? Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 9:22 AM  I had a bad cold last week and I called my Dr who told me to not give myself the Enbrel. Now I'm feeling better but am still coughing (productively) and a little congested. When you stop taking your medication due to being ill, how do you know when you're okay enough to start up again? Guest guest
I've had two rheumatologists tell me to put off injections for one week. I've always continued to take anti-inflamatories and supplements while I've been ill. Stan Seattle, rain. [ ] How Well is Well? Guest guest
Please do not go back to soon on Enbrel, my dr did and I ended up with pneumonia and then had to stay in the hospital and they had to give me high doses of prednisone to help me breath....Ugh! Feel better soon and hope your weather cooperates! Gentle, tender, wintery angel hugs............... Debs in FL [ ] How Well is Well? Guest guest
Thanks Debs! I'm two + weeks without Enbrel now and still coughing up junk a bit (although better than I was) and my throat gets sore off and on. The Dr told me yesterday to see how I was feeling by the end of the week and if better to start up again. I sure don't want to get pneumonia! The snow here is over our 4'.5 " fence, can't open our doors but about a foot, my dogs had to do their business on our porch until we can get something cleared out. I'm glad I don't have to go out today! I live in SE wisconsin on the illinois border, I remember 67 too but I was a kid and it was amazing to me, now it's kind of scary. Wish I was in FL . . . Guest guest
Hi PJ.  Please do not go back on your Enbrel until you have fully recovered. I know how hard it is to be without the RA meds. My last URI lasted almost 4 weeks and I could not take my weekly injection of MTX. I had to wait until my cough was fully gone and no more coughing up all that junk. It takes forever to get over things. I have had pneumonia so many times I have lost count. Our immune system is weaked by RA, and we are very prone to URI's and Pneumonia. Give yourself as much time as you can to be better first. I know what Debs and I have gone through with this. Everytime I get sick, I am fearful of Pneumonia and a stay in the hospital until I am better. I hope you are better soon, Please rest as much as you can. It does help. I pray for you to have better days ahead.  Hugs,  Barbara  S,W, Florida, 79, sunny and breezy. Wish you were here too! You are having a hard winter this year......
