Guest guest
Hi and Everyone on the list. Sorry , I posted an update on my use of the two products about 5 days ago and they never showed up on the post. I gave it a few days to see if e-groups would locate them and they never showed. I have been using the soap and oil since around Dec 29th. I stopped all other moisturizers or cleansers, but have continued to use the cea disks (: I use the disk first, wait a few minutes and flake off any residue, then apply the oil-this works well for me). I find the oil is very soothing and absorbs very well, has not been irritating, and has helped alot with the really drying out my skin is suffering this winter in the SF Bay Area (Hi Skylar-I'm in Benicia, where are you?). We are having a really dry winter, very very cold for around here, and even the dense, moist fog we have been having for three weeks hasn't helped the dryness brought on by the lack of rain (yeah!!! it finally rained last night, and warmed up a bit w/ it!), the fierce winds sometimes, freezing temps., and being indoors with a heater on 18 hours a day! The oil is really soaking in and doesn't leave a oily residue. The soap seems very mild. I have had no inflammation with either products. The cea disks are still keeping my flares away and the bumps. I did tend towards problems over the holidays w/ stress and eating too much of alot of not the best of foods (for my skin that is!), but the disks kept everything in check, or if I started to have a problem-they reversed it quickly. I haven't had any problem with pimples brought on by the oil. Usaully when I try a new product, if it is gonna be a problem for either my rosacea- or give me pimples-it'll start to happen within a week. I've used the products for 3 weeks now with no adverse effects. Th couple of times I failed to apply the oil immediately after cleansing, I regretted. It really is soothing, and stays working to moisturize all day. Many moisturizers I have found seem to disappear after a couple of hours and you need to reapply. I want to wish everyone a Belated Happy New Year-I had my Netscape crash on me right after Christmas, and didn't get around to getting everything back in order for almost two weeks. Needless to say I've had alot of mail to catch up on. I am still catching up on all your posts. Welcome new listers! Also, another e-mail list I belong to does something I think is really nice, and helpful. At the beginning of the New Year, they annually post a short introduction, or bio of sorts, to acquanit, or reacquaint, themselves with 'old' and 'new' posters. Does anyone think that would be a good idea, esp since we are a new group and have been acquiring members constantly? I also wanted to let anyone else with severe dry skin like me know what I have found extremely helpful. Being in Calif all my lfe, I didn't grow up with the use of humidifiers in the house, esp in winter, like most others in other parts of the country with more severe winters. But I found that where I live now, esp with the wind, I really do need them in my house for my skin and general comfort. For a couple of years I used those plastic portable things in several rooms, that need rinsing out alot, and new filters added often. I got tired or behind in doing that alot of time, it was a hassle. A few months ago I invested in some natural lava rock waterfalls/fountains-for table top or stand-that act as a natural filter for the water by the flow over the natural lava stone ( so you don't need mechanical replacement filters), you just set up (they are so pretty, and you can add a mister under the lava rock bed and make it look like mist/fog coming up from under the larger lava rock waterfall-and you can add an underwater light to them and they also are like a nightlight, or a volcano look!). They are so pretty-like a work of art/sculpture. They come in several sizes, my son has a small one in his room, and my living room, dining room, and master bedroom have larger ones. All I need to do is add water as needed-it filters itself. My cats love drinking from the running water also over the still water in their bowl. There are two web sites that I know of that sell these natural lava types, and I will post those if anyone is interested. The two big advantages of these fountains, (besides being beautiful and a nice home decoration, with soothing, pleasant sounds of running water) are 1) the moisture really helps with the dry skin and that feeling of dry, stagnant air in your lungs from the heater going so much inside the house, and 2) My son and my husband aren't snoring!!!!!!! They were a fantastic investment. The price range was from around $100, or slightly under, to about $250 for the larger ones. I see fountains all the time in the stores and craft shows that cost as much or more and aren't nearly as large or beautiful, and are not natural stones but man made to look natural. I would highly recommend for anyone with dry skin (or snoring family members!) Thanks for listening. Looking forward to the next products . Let me know if I need to post any more specific answers about my experience with them. best to you all...debbie g. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Debbie, Thanks for your input! You are so right about the benefits of an effective room humidifier on the skin. BTW, the skin has its seasonal ups and downs and one should be aware that products used in the winter may not necessarily work in the summer. Guest guest
Hi! Debbie's suggestion for the waterfalls is a great one. I want to add that a person can find these waterfall/fountains in various arts & crafts stores too. I'm planning to set up my small waterfall, once i get my art room back in order (the reason I hang out in arts & crafts stores a lot), because its a soothing sound--I didn't think about the humidifying benefits. Quite often, I have seen these on sales (40-50% off) in the crafts stores ads. Small waterfalls that can be easily set up, and plugged in once filled with water and the " pump " placed in the water reservoir.
