Guest guest
Hi all, been awhile since I posted, my rheumy does not give RX for pain either, I see a pain dr, however if I didn't have that I would expect him to take care of my pain too and that fact that he doesn't bothers me a little. It is part of the RA and he is a rheumatologist. People in our country, US, have our pain very poorly controlled. I take a narcotic for pain, I have tried all the other ones and that one works best, All people are different, what works for one person may not work for me. I am young and know that I have a long life ahead to consider having to take meds, but I consider it part of the disease itself and I wouldn't " not use " Enbrel simply because I will be using it a long time. As long as my labs are stable, I say TREAT My Pain. I would prefer to live a life functioning, with moderately controlled pain, rather than one where I coundnt do anything because of my rheumy's unwillingness to deal with the pain, that his patients deal with. I have never been to the dentist where I was told that pain meds would not be used. It makes no sense to me. Life is too short and I refuse to live it in pain. I am 40 and have been dx'd for 4 years, I have a lot of years left and if I am to remain active, simply controlling my labs will not be enough, pain must be addressed, sorry for the rant.
