Guest guest
I am terrified to apply for SSI. I keep praying I'll miraculously defy the RA gods and just be cured, but we all know that isn't happening. I'm feeling a little hopeless right now as I don't have insurance or a job. I'm being pushed by my boyfriend to either find a job or get Disability. It's not that easy. I never know from one day to the next how RA will affect me. Has anybody received SSI for RA? Just venting. Heidi in Denver From: B Coy <grandmamames@...> Subject: [ ] diaability and lack of understanding Date: Saturday, October 23, 2010, 5:54 PM  Hi everyone! I was just reading through the latest postings and thought I would add my two cents worth. When one applies for SSdisability they always send them to a psychiatrist as well as several other Doctors who don't really seem to know what they are doing. Go with lots of paper work and a full list of medications and all your own reactions and problems written down. Most doctors start out nice to you then become mean spirited as the interview continues. It can be unnerving to say the least. Bear in there and be prepaired to get a SS attorney if you are turned down. I have a sister who works for SS and this info is from her. I also found that when I tell people I have RA I often get a " Well you are lucky it isn't ( this or that)! I don't feel lucky. I do thank God that it isn't worse but I would like a little understanding from my friends and family. Thanks for letting me whine some more! God bless you all!
