Guest guest
Dennis - it must feel wonderful to be so financially free! We have a very small mortgage on our house - and the value is about four times what we owe. Its nice to have minimal payments - especially when so many families are crumbling under the mortgage crisis. Its nice to know we'll always have our home. Won't it be sad to leave the house that you and your family built? Or is it too big for just you and your wife? Either way, you've been smart with your investment and now in your time of need, you don't have to stress about that along with everything else.....Doreen > > I'll have to say I positioned myself well before I was downed by > RA. Guest guest
Doreen, sorry I haven't responded sooner, but life does get in the way. Betty's home from the hospital and doing well and I've relaxed a little. As for our house, we won't miss it because we'll only move about 700 feet, to the upper end of our property. I'm planning to sell it for enough to pay for a brand-new house ready to walk into. I'm getting tired of the things we have to deal with here. There will be no ramps, steps, etc, and can relax more easily. I want to have a metal clear span building with the house in one end and the shop/garage in the other end. When I feel like working on one of the cars, I can just walk out the door and there I am. I also need to get rid of some of my project cars. That'll make it easier and we can come and go as we please, without anyone noticing we're gone. I really hate to hear of all the companies dumping positions and people. It's going to be hard for a lot of folks, more than what we have now. It will get worse before it gets better, even with the plans of the new president. I still feel sad when I think of the grief that will be dealt with. A prayer is called for asking help for the souls having to deal with life with no job. Guest guest
In the Seattle area Microsoft finally announced they would be cutting 5000 jobs, they did so by laying-off 1400 people at once. Starbucks announced today that they again would be making even more job cuts. Boeing which is always doing something is reducing hours and laying off without plans to call anyone back. Circuit City is closing (which is national) but I count for major retail stores in our area that's also closing their doors. In addition, the State also announced it is cutting back on staff in the Department of Social Health and Services (we call it DSHS) so anyone applying for food assistance will just have to wait. Of course, I think most of those people are probably in a " just when they need it most " situation. When I was informed I got my SSDI that department immediately told me I was no longer eligible for any benefits, to include my Medical Insurance which I was paying for myself. I am not complaining though, I am really hoping that the resources help a family that r eally needs it. I've done RA without Medical Insurance before, I can do it again if need be. But your comment that it will get worse before it gets better is what they are predicting, and with what I've seen in just the last week, well...it's really very frightening. I can't convey how I feel because it's a kind of overwhelming, but when I go to bed at night, regardless of my own condition (good or bad) I try to be appreciative and grateful for my blessings, big or small. Stan, Seattle, cloudy and cold. ------------- Original message -------------- From: Dennis W <betnden@...> Doreen, sorry I haven't responded sooner, but life does get in the way.
