Being dumped is rude, but things happen for a reason, I try to make them happen for a good reason. Guest guest
Everything is about MONEY. The hospital had me covered by Medicare and their 'indigent' program. I heard in passing that they were to take that support from me and others, but wouldn't tell any of us, we had to find out the hard way, when checking out. That's when we were hit with a co-pay bill as if we carried money around to cover those things. Rather embarrassing to say the least. Guest guest
We're going to have simular issues in Washington State because our newly re-elected Govenor who swore she would not make certain budget cuts got out her axe and smashed everything. The deepest cuts were funds for the disabled and seniors, in fact she said they only things she didn't cut in that area where those that prohibited from doing so by federal mandates. So she wants to get as much money as she can while cutting at much money as she can. What a liar. And you're right, it always comes down to money. Guest guest
I'll have to say I positioned myself well before I was downed by RA. We bought a house in Longview for about $12k and sold it about 7 years later for $32k. I bought the land we're living on with cash. Then we decided we would build a house instead of messing with the broke-down trailers we bought to have a place to stay dry. All the work, from design to plumbing, wiring, painting, was done by me and my wife, 2 girls, and one boy. When I got home from work, I'd go out and cut trees to the right length, loaded the trailer with 6,000 to 10,000 pounds of pine trees. The next morning, my wife would carry it to town and pick up the check and take it right to the lumber yard and get the things on my list. Afterwards, we'd put it together and cut, carry, buy, build until we got it together and never owed on it at all. I don't have to worry about payments or insurance, only the taxes on the place. Now I'm going to sell most of it with the house, and have a new one built, still paying cash for it, except this time I won't have to lift a finger except to open the door and walk in! The kids are gone and our taxes total about $350 each year, so as long as Social Security and the hospital are still here, we'll do fine. Guest guest
I've actually come out okay, although I have to stay in my condo for awhile while the economy gets better (hopefully) and maybe refurbish it 15 minutes a day, and then sell it. I won't be able to make it on SSDI and stay here. But I don't really want to stay here anyway, I'm on the third floor and eventually that's not gonna work. And the neighborhood isn't all that good, I live here for godsake!
