Guest guest
Beth and List, First of all, I made no comments about Olson and Dave clarified those he did make. Furthermore, I will emphasize that is the ONLY one on the existing BOD that acknowledged mistakes were made regarding people issues. Now, I will reiterate what I said in the my recent post and make some additional points. 1. A majority of the members of the EC and the BOD HAVE acted with integrity, honesty, and in LPA's best interest. 2. There are a handful of these people (about three or four) that constantly attempt to manipulate the system and orchestrate the outcome of decisions to reflect their desires. ( - in my opinion is not among those.) Is this for LPA? Maybe, maybe not. My complaint is their continues manipulation of the process and the 1970's style " corporate bullying " (hence, the last page of the election pamphlet) is undermining LPA and causing serious problems. 3. Has the current administration been successful? Absolutely! Lots of fundraising! Have they made mistakes. Without a doubt! Everyone makes mistakes and these people are no more or less human that we are. The trouble is, they cannot admit to them and correct them properly. (Hence, why did member of the human resources committee resign within a couple of weeks after the committee's inception?) 4. Yes, most of the times, people in an organization like LPA are NOT going to get along. However, the continued poor treatment of PEOPLE by certain officers is cause for concern. With the improper handling of employees and volunteers, our officers are subjecting LPA to very serious consequences - including lawsuits - whose defense alone would wipe out all of the gains that LPA has made over the past two years. 5. Certain people skills are required of officers of any organization - these include listening and the ability to build consensus. (Others include the ability to tell people to go to hell in such a fashion that they look forward to the trip. I do not have this skill and this is one of the reasons I resigned - but I tried to listen.) The three or four officers in question do not have these skills and seem unable to manage this weekness. Simply, they have placed themselves on a pedastil (sp?) and not allowed themselves to be human. I feel like I belonged to LPA at one time and that it belonged to me. I no longer feel my opinions are welcome and the only time I hear from any officer is when I forget to pay my registration fee for a regional meeting. I've been a member of this organization for almost 40 years and have made several attempts to serve it. Sometimes I wonder if I should give up and go away - after all it may make someone's life easier and the average sized world has caused me a lot less grief lately. (I will not go into the services my brothers have provided and the treatment they have received - I think most of you are aware of that.) However, when I see the kids and they want to talk to me about the " stupid tall people " , I am inclined to stay - and to write messages like this so that we don't have to talk about the " stupid short people " . So Beth - while I respect your opinion and welcome your comments - as long as a few people are egotistical enough to treat others the way some members of this EC/BOD have treated their employees and volunteers - THERE WILL BE NO TIMEOUTS! Try to rip me a new one. You'll find it's already there. Randy Bradford
Guest guest
Forgive me for butting in here... I HATE misunderstandings.... I am just wondering what Stan said that offended you so much? I don't see anything in his post that is offensive to anyone. Someone please clue me in? ****~**** Kami ****~**** Re: [ ] Re: >>>> OT<<<<<<< blood donor eligibility guidelines @gro ups.com Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 1:08 PM We really have been on a roll for the last couple of decades in terms of the economy, not all parts of the country and not all people, but in general there has been jobs and money available. The kids have gotten use to to a lifestyle that can provide them pretty much anything they want. Unfortunately I think we are going to have some rough times now. With whatever Obama can do, and I believe it is his intention to do the best he can, it certainly isn't going to happen overnight. I generally avoid politics here because this is not the place for it or our opinions about it. But I think the fact is that a lot of people are going to have to do some adjusting. A lot of us here are already used to living on a fixed income (others might say, this is an income!) and I am learning right now how to do that. It's will be interesting, that's for sure!
