Guest guest
Sorry, . What type of damage did the x-rays reveal? Is this the only rheumatologist you have seen? The rheumatologist says that I have arthritis in my hands, but since all my lab work was mostly normal, I do not have rheumatoid arthritis. (Or so he says....x-rays show arthritis damamge to my hands though.) He then just said I had fibromyalgia and left. The pain is enough to kill me and the mornings and evenings are the worst. Just looking for some support and help from others who are going through this as well. I feel that he is wrong. To prove my point I have half a mind to go off my meds for a month before my next rheumy appointment to have him see me before all the meds. And I just might, its just the the pain is so intense then. Anyhow, thanks for reading. > >
Guest guest
I didn't think to ask. He just said that the damage in my hands shows arthirtis, but since all labs come back clear that....didn't hear everything after that. He then said it was Fibromyalgia and left. I was very frustrated with him. I can only see him right now as there are only 4 rheumy's in my small place and they are all at the same clinic. They don't allow you to switch doctor's there. > > > > > > I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia on 6-6-09. Guest guest
Hi - I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. Sounds like you need a new Rheumy. My RA doesn't show up in blood tests either. They call that sero-negative RA. I also have fibromyalgia. Some days I don't know which one it is that's giving me a fit. I wouldn't stop the meds you are taking if they're helping. You need one that is kind and understanding. Keep us posted. We care. Praying for pain free days.....Doreen I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia on 6-6-09. Guest guest
i am new to the group and not exactly techno savvy so i hope this works. i am a 54yrs old woman with RA about 5 years now. doing pretty decent on mtx and pred when needed. i have load of 1mg tablets of those and do not seem to need any more then 3mg at a time. i just wanted to say how important a good relationship with your doctor is. i do not think i would be doing as well without it. losing a bit of weight has helped along with loving the heck out of swimming. i moved into this apt complex i am in primarily becuz they had 2 heated pools.... enjoy the day all....bernie > > Hi - I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply...unfortunately I am stuck with him for now. There are 4 rheumys in my small city and they are all at one clinic. They don't allow you to switch doctors. Its in the paper work that I had to sign. I guess its so they aren't taking away from their partners and what not. Anyhow, I will be bringing in a list of daily symptoms as well on my next visit. He just isn't getting it. I don't know how to make him understand. Anyhow, thanks again. I better go. > > Hi - I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. Sounds like you need a new Rheumy. Guest guest
Hey (my daughter's name too )! Don't underestimate the debilitating power and pain of Fibromyalgia. It can also cause joint pain as well. I have positive rheumatoid factor and I can tell you that Fibro is just as painful at times. And yes when you have more than one autoimmunity it is very confusing to say the least. I take Lyrica for the leg pain I experience (it feels like electricity- neuropathy) and works GREAT!!! As far as the Rneumy goes~ this will be the toughest fight of your life so you want to share it with a doctor who is compassionate. Having troubles in the morning is a RA characteristic, in fact, mine lasts until about 12:00ish at least. Please don't go off your meds it will just set you back! Although I certainly understand your frustation!! Good luck to you!! MicheleBB > > Hi - I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. Sounds like you need a new Rheumy. Guest guest
Hey , The doctor world is soooo small!! You are in a bind because the only way to get a new Rheumy is to go to another office that's in competition with yours hehehehehehehe How stupid is the health care industry?? When will they figure out that they work for US????? heehee Good luck! MicheleBB > > > > Hi - I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this. Sounds like you need a new Rheumy. Guest guest
Sorry to hear you sound " stuck " - the list is a good idea, though. All you can do is try to get him to listen to what you're saying. I'd be half tempted to cancel my " membership " with him and wait a specified amount of time before going to one of the others that have been known to have a better disposition and listening skills. You would think the others in his practice would want to know if a patient is dissatisfied. Someone has to be " running the ship " . Good luck to you.....Doreen Thanks for the reply...unfortunately I am stuck with him for now. There are 4 rheumys in my small city and they are all at one clinic.
