newly diagnosed med. question

I am recently diagnosed and had a horrible allergic reaction to Plaquenil. The

doctor suggested methotrexate and I wanted to find out how it has worked for

people. What can I expect as far as side effects? Any info would be much

appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi Kristi,

I have been on mtx for 11 years now, my wonder drug, I'm down to 2 pills a

week. My ONLY side effect is thinning hair on the top of my head, not happy

about it but it sure beats my joints going to pot.

Thank you so much for your reply. It makes me feel a better to hear a success

story. You mentioned that your only side effect is thinning hair (my hair is

falling out anyway) but did you have any other side effects in the beginning?

Hi Kristi,

The answer to your question, none, not a one. My stomach was never upset.

I occasionally have some fatigue but is that from the drugs, the RA itself

or age? Who can be sure. You should have seem me the first day I took my

mtx. I had the pills on the table, I swear I sat there looking at them for

an hour. Finally got up the courage to take them and....nothing, nothing

happened. So 11 years later, if you did not know me, you would never know

that I have RA and I am thankful to God every day for that.
