I told him my Psoriasis had been flaring up for months and the Enbrel didnt seem to be helping that. He advised that Humira seems to do better for the Psoriasis. I was wondering if anyone made the switch from Enbrel to Humira? What was your experience like? I have had no problems with Enbrel as far as side effects go or site injection problems. I would love to know how Humira worked for anyone (Esp those who went from Enbrel to Humira) I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much! Guest guest
Lina, I, too, am in the same boat as you about switching from Enbrel to Humira. I have been on Enbrel for a year and a half. When I first got on Enbrel I was at my worse at 90% coverage and in so much pain I could not walk or lay down. With one shot of the Enbrel I was able to move and within a month almost 95% clear. A new life for me since I had never been free of psoriasis since I was 5 years old. However, it did not seem to do much for the Pa for me . But, O, how I enjoyed the freedom of not having psoriasis. I then got a bad sinus infection and could not get rid of it no matter the 4 rounds of different antibiotics. I stopped the Enbrel for 3 months and in the three months broke out so bad . Not 90 % but 50% . I was so devastated after being clear. My Derm has started me out once again with the 50 shots twice a week of Enbrel but it seems not to be working only holding it at bay. Now my Derm wants to put me on the Humira to see how I will do on it and hopes it will work better on the PA for me. I now have been approved for Humira but it will be in April , I hope, before I will start it. I have no answeres to your question as of yet but just wanted you to know you are not alone in this. My wish would be we could keep in touch with each other to let us know how the Humira is working. I pray it will give us both the health we both are working for. Guest guest
Suzanner I switched from Enbrel to Humera about a year ago. I feel like it does work better, at least for me. I had to stop taking it for a couple of weeks due to Resp infection. It did take about 4-6 weeks for me to feel the effects. Guest guest
I have had RA since 2000. In 2005, I began Humira for one year, then Remicaid for 2 years - neither of which worked for me (please keep in mind everyone is different). At the beginning of 2008, I was put on Orencia and it has worked fairly well and I am doing pretty good. Before Orencia, I prayed so many times that God would take me if it were my time to go - I just couldn't take the pain anymore. It wasn't the sed rate but the other rate that is measured - it was around 92 and I think it should have been around 4. On Orencia, I am now around 20 - still high but not as bad as 92. To answer your question, I think that Humira and Enbrel are in the same " class " as they call it and switching from one to the other would not make a difference - but PLEASE check with your doctor as I am not one and am not sure all the information I receive is correct. Hope this helps.
