Guest guest
Did you try using a salt water saline nose spray? My DH uses it in the winter because it gets very dry in our house, and it seems to work well. A name brand for that is Ocean, but generics work just as well. At bed, you can use just plain old Vaseline, or Aquaphor. At least when your sleeping, it won't bug you as much. Lori http://home.comcast.net/~queenstitcher/ http://stitchingqueen.multiply.com [ ] MTX Drying Me Out Hi Everyone... Since I've gone to the injections I have been having an issue with the MTX drying out my sinuses. It's uncomfortable and annoying. I've tried keeping myself completely hydrated and have tried using a vaporizor at night. I've alo tried a tiny bit of antibiotic onement in the nostrils and that just feels greasy and weird. Any suggestions? Stan, Seattled, Cloudy.
Guest guest
I'll give it a go, and stop buy the drug store today. For some reason I never thought to look at nasal sprays, I just always associate them with head colds or allergies. Sometimes I think I'm just stupid. Stan Seattle, Cloudy. LOL In my research, I've found that Sjogrens Syndrome goes hand-in-hand with RA, apparently cause (?) Sjogrens. It dries out the cavities from the base of the neck to the top of your head. I've been using saline nasal spray for my eyes, too. When I got my eye exam, the optometrist took pictures to see how much damage the Sjogrens caused so far, and it was considerable. Life goes on... Guest guest
Dennis, are you sure it's safe to use saline nasal spray in your eyes? Why don't you get some moisturizing drops? I would think that saline spray would just dry out your eyes more. For my Fuchs' corneal dystrophy, I use Muro 128 eye drops (which are salt and water) to draw the moisture out of my cornea. Guest guest
It was a slight issue when I was one the oral, I would make sure I was fully hydrated before taking it and stayed that way the day after. I've been doing the same since going to the injections even with the dose being the same. So I've heard the injections are more effective and this may indicate that is true. I wanted to start on the injections to get use to the idea so if I every get on a biologic it wouldn't be so creepy giving myself a needle. I've printed out your input and will be looking for it today. Appreciate it! Stan Seattle, Cloudy. Guest guest
Thera tears comes in liquid and gel form and is supposed to be preservative free once it hits your eye (?). She told me NOT to use the Visine type stuff as it would only make it worse. She also recommended I only use the gel type if I were going to bed for the night or something like that. ________________________________ From: " dgd301@... Guest guest
I use Genteal gel to moisterize my eyes. Lately, since I've been having corneal erosions from map-dot dystrophy, it's not quite adequate, so I got some Genteal ointment to use at night. Guest guest
To begin with, I have both drops here on my desk. When I try to get drops in my eyes, it ends up all over my face, but not in my eyes. The saline is a spray and fills my entire eye, not just the part that flutters around with blinking. I feel that blinking wipes most solution away so it won't do much good anyhow. Just my opinion, and it works for me so far. Guest guest
Dennis, I have a hard time getting drops into my eyes, too. I find that doing it while looking in a mirror helps make it easier for me. And I also pull down the bottom lid to make a pocket in which to put the drops. I still get the drops all over my face sometimes. I've had to use eye drops for years, but lately I've had to use even more to try to ease these corneal erosions I keep having. I really do think that the saline spray is probably drying out your eyes. Why don't you ask your doctor if it is? Guest guest
I have very dry eyes, especially since I got RA, and I use Restasis prescription eye drops. They do help quite a bit. Guest guest
Doesn't your doctor understand that you can have RA without having a positive RF factor? It's called sero-negative RA.
