Guest guest
I'm using a 15% minoxidil solution. It's difficult to say for certain, but yes my hair seems to have stabilized. I've used finasteride before and it has no ill effect on me. Guest guest
Hi - I think that the band is speeding up the normal hair loss that most babies have. My son has a ton of hair as well but has not lost any of it. One of his older brothers had a ton of hair as infant as well and never lost his so I think my boys are just well endowed in the hair department :>) If it was the band causing the hair loss I would expect to see Nicolas losing his but so far the only hair he has lost is through a hair cut. Molly California Nicolas, 8 months, tort & plagio, STARband 4/25/06 , 3 , 6.5 hair loss Hi All, Our daughter seems to be doing well with her starband, but she is getting balder by the day. She was born with a lot of hair. It was thinning before the band, but it has sped up drastically since she started wearing it. I think its the band rubbing plus the daily shampooing. I'm hoping that it is just speeding up her normal loss, and not really related to the the band. The only place she still has a lot of hair is on top where the band doesn't cover. Have others had this experience, and if so when did it start growing back? We've been told she could be in her band any where from 4 to 6 months, so I hope we don't have to wait that long until we start seeing her hair again. Thanks for any information. moms to Sydney / 6 mo/ brachy / starband 5-31-06 Ps. to the mom with the baby that doesn't sleep - we gave up and put Sydney in our bed most nights. She starts off in her crib, but if she wakes up more than 2 times or so in a few hours (which is most nights) we move her to our bed and she sleeps like a " baby " . We tried the memory foam, and elevating the crib and dressing her lightly, but she just doesn't sleep as well as before. But snuggled up with us she seems just fine. I guess we're spoiling her, but at least we get some sleep. For more plagio info
Guest guest
Tammie - I noticed a dramatic loss of body hair about the same time my fingers started peeling, before I got the PA diagnosis. My doctors blame it on aging, though. The thing is, it happened real suddenly for me. older and hairless, sherry z > > I hadn't noticed it before, because I was never a terribly hairy peron > (haha), but I think I have about lost all my body hair. Guest guest
Tammie, I too have noticed the same thing. I take most of the same meds that you do, except add prednisone and Enbrel. When I first started MTX I lost hands full of hair on my head, but now that has stopped. I have lots of hair on my face!!! and my stick straight, baby fine hair has changed and become coarse and curly. I am 59 so some of this must be due to menopause althought I had a hysterectomy 30+ years ago. I just guess, it is what it is??? Guest guest
Tammie, I've been taking MTX for over 4 years and I still have hair loss. I thought it was only a one time thing when you first start taking it, but it seems to me my hair is always falling out. But it grows so fast (finger & toe nails, too) I can't keep a decent hair cut for more than a week. One good thing I guess is when it grows back, it is not as gray as before. I also take a blood pressure and thyroid med. Maybe they all contribute when together. I feel much better. I will tell the doc next time I see her in a few weeks. I am 36 regarding the age question. I didn't know we lose hair as we get older (no mom) so thank you for the info. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if I grew a third eye and another arm, the way my body is outta whack. But I wanna keep my head of hair-haha I don't remember losing head hair from the mxt but there was a shampoo the dermotologist gave me once that scared the beejeezis out of me, my shower looked like I tried to shave a yeti. I can't remember the name. I use clobex now and I like that all right. It really works in my ears well. Thanks a million y'all. I know it is normal for adults to lose hair but , was wondering if toddlers do also. Has this happened to anyone. I am going to call his Ped tomorrow just thought I would ask. Guest guest
It actually is not typical for a toddler to loose alot of hair. You aren't supplementing selenium, are you? Sometimes low zinc or selenium (among other things) can lead to hair loss. But excess selenium can also cause hair loss. There is also a long list of possible causes of hair loss in children...some of which are very harmless but not very attractive when loosing patches of hair. Something as simple as a fungal infection in ths scalp can also cause hair loss. - > Hi Everyone, > > For the past 2wks or so after bathing my son I have been noticing > loose hair floating around. Guest guest
Krista: Have you had all of your thyroid levels checked yet? Initially, mine fell out like mad, then slowed down. Of course, the Dermatologist could not explain this and felt it would come back... I had half of my thyroid out in August. After I started the thyroid replacement, it fell again like crazy and I stopped taking it... For me, it seems to relate somehow to thyroid, but is not consistant, but then nothing else makes sense with all of this either. Hair loss can be a problem in autoimmune disease though. Rapid heartbeat... Another topic dear to "my heart." :) My favorite recollection of this dates back to a hospital stay back in, I think, 1994... I woke from a dead sleep to a racing heart, rate was 120... Nurse came... Oh, you must have anxiety... Right... Out of a dead sleep??? I do need to read the thyroid site though... I was going to send you a message through myspace last night, but I forgot! I hope you are feeling better. I just wanted to tell you (and Steph too) that I have decided to cut my hair. It's not an easy decision by any means, but I am actually excited about it! I've lost so much hair with all of this and I already had thin hair to begin with. I'm losing less then I was with implants, but I think I am still losing because it is just too long right now. I've decided to cut it off and "start over." I'm hoping I have regrowth, and by cutting it my re-growth can catch up! I will post pics on my myspace so you guys can see my new cut! I am doing it on Feb.2nd.
