Guest guest
Hi , Are you taking enough good fats? Can you post your basic diet, give us an idea of what you are eating? Fermented foods and drinks? Enough grass fed beef, poultry fish? Have you had a baby recently? Since I have been more strict on the diet, my hair has completely stopped falling and my nails/hair are way healthier, nails not breaking off, my skin is healthier too, etc. I think the hormones are back into balance. I feel very energetic also now. Are you tired? Are you making green juice? Fish oil, cod liver oil? I am just throwing out ideas for you to analyze how you could boost nutrients and correct issues. Hang in there, I think you can get this reversed in time. Millie
Guest guest
Took me 3 months for all joint pain gone, and 4 months for all of my psoriasis to clear up. Had this since i had lyme, everything else cleared up except that, then the LDN, took care of that. I have probable Lupus and started LDN a month ago. So far, the energy improvements have been GREAT!!!! My question is that I'm still losing hair just as fast as I was before. Does anyone know how long it may take to start seeing changes? Guest guest
I noticed that I was losing hair but it was probably because of methotrexate which I finally stopped... it wasn't much help for MS. Guest guest
Hello, I have lupus as well and the LDN has been fantastic. For hair loss, you may want to get your blood tested through metabolics laboratory (I don't have their info in front of me but can get it). My MD tested my amino acids through them and had them make a special blend. He also added digestive enzymes and other digestive aids and my hair has stopped falling out. Now I have normal hair fall out, not the hand fulls from before. You need to fix your intestinal absorption (that's the main problem with a lot of us with lupus and can lead to some of the symptoms like numbness in the limbs, dizziness, etc.). To help with the hair loss symptom in the short run, you may want to try Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner. It's great and helps regrow hair even when on chemo. If this shampoo doesn't help, you'll want to consider switching to a shampoo without Sodium Laurel Sulfate or Parabens. A lot of us have very sensitive skin and a lot of allergies, and these chemicals can be irritating and worsen rashes and hair loss (although you do not need rashes to be reacting to these things). Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. I'm glad someone else with lupus has been helped by LDN! Cami
Guest guest
If anything, the LDN has helped my hair get healthy again. At Art's suggestion I tried MSM and it really helped. I really think my hair loss was from my disease and lack of absorption of nutrients. (I have Crohn's) I don't think that LDN can do anything that would cause hair loss. I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 30 years. Often 6 weeks to 6 months after a trauma (like a flare of autoimmune disease) hair will start to fall out. My suggestion is to make sure that you are getting the nutrients you need. I also take 5000 mg of Biotin with my other vitamins. I can see the difference! best wishes,
Guest guest
Kathy, I hear you loud and clear! I was just saying to myself yesterday that I have to have a serious talk about this with my rheumy next month at my appt, the only major problem here is that I really like him, he's probably only 40 maybe and he's half bald on top, so I think it's a touchy subject with him too but a man can be bald but for heavens sake I woman can't. I take only 3 mtx a week, have for 10 years and it does a wonderful job for me. I do take 2 folics a day. Do I really want to mess with that? I have been told to add Biotin (it's a vitamin that you can buy over the counter) by my best friend , a nurse and to use Nioxin shampoo. You might want to look into those, I have to get on that bandwagon myself. I also have been coloring my hair for 30 years, I'm only 53 but I followed my grandmother and went grey in my 20s, don't really want to cut coloring out yet. Good Luck. in PA [ ] Hair Loss I guess I should not complain...and I am sorry but, no family is home for the holidays and now to top it off... a big hunk of my hair broke off about an inch from the scalp. This is the second time this has happened. Has anyone had this problem? Is it from the RA and because I have my hair highlighted? What can I do for it. It is always right on the top of my head. I take 8 Methotrexate a week and 2 folic acid daily, blood pressure meds, cymbalta, and prevacid. This med combo has worked wonders for my pain...knock on wood...not much pain if any, just fatique and the hair loss. If any of you have experienced this and found out what to do, I would really appreciate your information. Kathy

Enjoy your day totally.    Much love to you, my dear friend. My wish for you is better health, to be pain free, and to enjoy your life better and with ease. Talk soon.  Many hugs, Love,  Barbara  From: rascalsniche@... <rascalsniche@...> Subject: [ ] Hair loss Date: Wednesday, December 23, 2009, 7:27 PM  I can understand about the hair loss. Guest guest
Its from too much DHT. There are prescription meds for this but I hear they can lower libido. I believe they are called proscar and propecia. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile Hair Loss Did anybody see an acceleration of hair loss when they started on trt? The more test you have , the more it converts to dht which has receptor sites in the scalp. It could be that more dht id being produced and hence affecting your hair. saw palmetto is said to help but personally not known any difference, however it is good for the prostate which too has dht receptor sites. Guest guest
Yes I saw hair loss from transdermal TRT. Here's what worked for me to stop hair loss. It regrew very little but it did stop the loss I use Nizoral 2% shampoo 3 times a week. You don't need a prescription if you buy it from a Canadian pharmacy on the web. I also apply 2% Spironolactone(Alcohol based) about 4 nights a week before bed time and 5% Spironolactone creme and the same time(on the nights without Nizoral shampoo). I get the Spirolactone from Compounded for Regrowth LLC at www.minoxidil.com Dr. Crisler sells a Ketoconazole(Nizol)/Spironactolone prescription to his patients but it did not work as well as the above for me. > > Did anybody see an acceleration of hair loss when they started on trt? Guest guest
My hair has gotten thinner in only 8 weeks of being on testosterone. going to weekly injections slowed it down, since the spike was when i could scratch my head and watch hair fall down. I thought about the hair replacement drugs, but I am trying to have a baby and the wife is sensitive to chemicals. This is also why I decided to do shots instead of androgel. of course, now that I am giving myself shots, its no big deal. I look forward to the day I shave off all my hair and just look big, old, and scary... screw the hair.
Guest guest
Why in the world are you taking T if you're trying to have a baby? Isn't that directly counterproductive - the worst thing you could do? > > My hair has gotten thinner in only 8 weeks of being on testosterone. going to weekly injections slowed it down, since the spike was when i could scratch my head and watch hair fall down. > > I thought about the hair replacement drugs, but I am trying to have a baby and the wife is sensitive to chemicals. Guest guest
I am taking testosterone because of several issues, **the complete inability to have full penatrative sex, even with a full pill of levitra. **High blood pressure that was not being controled by any of the blood pressure meds. Way too many side effects, and one was causing me to have diabetic blood glucose readings. **My blood sugar readings were diabetic, I would have had to start glucophage **my triglicerides, along with my uric acid were high. **I felt like crap, having hot flashes, my memory was getting pretty bad, and the gout was hard to control, and the anxiety. Tired all the time **I also felt like a shmuck around groups of people I am seeing dr. crisler next month, and I hope he can help me straighten everything out. I was fertile starting testosterone, and my fertility has been tested and has gone down. I am having trouble with the HCG, so I am kind of stuck > > > > My hair has gotten thinner in only 8 weeks of being on testosterone. going to weekly injections slowed it down, since the spike was when i could scratch my head and watch hair fall down. > > > > I thought about the hair replacement drugs, but I am trying to have a baby and the wife is sensitive to chemicals. Guest guest
When you say 2mls every 10 days are you using Test C at 200mg/ml this would = 400mgs in on dam big shot every 10 days what do your labs look like this is a lot of T. Dr. sells a shampoo that he says helps with this but doing as much T as you might be doing I don't know if this would help. Do you have your blood checked for being to think this is a problem with shots this big and how do your DHT levels look. It's called Dr. 's Anti-Hair Loss Formula $ 55.00 60 ml But I think you need to see him to get this. www.allthingsmale.com Do you check your Estradiol levels I am betting they are high. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2 From what I know about TRT and hair loss if your going to lose your Hair on TRT is can happen sooner. What ever you do don't use Propecia (finasteride)there are men that have low Testosterone and have lost there sex life on this crap. http://www.propeciasideeffects.com/ Co-Moderator Phil > From: swg1802 <swg1802@...> > Subject: hair loss > > Date: Thursday, May 6, 2010, 8:22 AM > Hair loss is a big deal with me.
