Wal Mart and many pharmacies sell them for about 30 dollars.

They use to give me relief....

Most manicure places will give your hands a paraffin bath for about ten dollars.

You can sample it before purchase that way...

What exactly is this?

If her hands are huge and swollen, what about one of those wax

things to dip her hands in?

Sharon, I'm sorry. I knew I should have gone to look at my machine to

tell you exactly what it is. Its a HomeMedics Para Spa Pro. Paraffin

wax therapy. Sometimes you see these in a nail salon and are used

after a pedicure - they slather lotion on your feet and then dip them

3-4 times in the hot wax - then when it cools, they pull the wax off.

In this case, it seals the moisturizer into the skin and it feels so

silky smooth after. Its not like the wax that would be used for hair

removal. I got my machine at Walgreens - although I think WalMart

might have them too.

In your daughter's case, you could heat the wax until it is all melted

and then dip her hands, elbows, knees, feet (whatever area you could

get in the wax tub) several times in the melted wax until you have a

good coating on the affected area (no lotion or ointments). Once the

wax is cool, you can remove it. It is a wonderful way to apply heat to

joints that are really sore and the wax seems to help the heat

penetrate deeper than any topical ointment or cream or heating pad

ever could. I've seen it used at Physical Therapy places as well. Just

be careful not to get the wax too hot so she doesn't get burned.

I hope this helps.....Doreen :)
