Guest guest
I've decided to invoke the one voodoo trick I know works, I bought another one. So now I am positive it will turn up very soon, like a warrantee, it will magically appear one day after I cannot return the new one I purchased. The other other you can do is tear your home apart looking for it, generally you find other things you've misplaced, so on the plus side you have another opportunity to admire something you found and completely misplace it again. Life goes on, at least we can stew about it! Guest guest
I hate losing things. I will misplace the remote control, however it's right near me. I have yet to misplace an important piece of paper, because I've made it my duty that when something important comes to place it right in it's proper place...remembering where it is might be an issue, but at least it will be where it needs to be! I've developed a fear of getting lost whether walking or driving, and I used to have an impeccable sense of direction. I've had to make a list of where I need to go for errands, never mind what I need to get. There are days I get cocky because I remember where I need to go and drive right by one of my stops. I hate that this is happening to me. In my last job I could not for the life of me, figure out a calculation needed to figure out a percentage using our discount. When I had my neuropsychological testing, it was explained to me, that this particular disability (NLD) has been with me since childhood but now at age (45) gasp, I cannot cover up for my short comings in this area any more. That's why I can't find my way out of a paper bag, and if you show me a map I may clock you, and I can't add 2 and 2. Ok I can add 2 and 2, but don't ask me a square root of anything, I'll go out looking for trees with square roots. LOL. Heidi in very snowy Mass. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I bought a Garmin GPS. I love driving places and refuse to give up any of my independence because of some of my comedic " inabilities " ...lol. I'm not meaning to offend anyone else who may have these..just speaking of myself. I crack myself up and have to get over these things otherwise, I'll stay indoors and become a recluse! It's really helped me get over my fear once I learned to trust it. Now all is well in my little world. To me it was worth every penny. My husband has to take me to all of my doctor appointments, and it aggravates him. But I simply have no geographic memory. I don't see how most people find their way around in the world, because I simply cannot. Guest guest
Sue, These GPS things are GREAT!!!! I love mine. When I first got it, I told it to take me to places I already knew how to get to, to test it, and maybe " outsmart " it. I also knew different ways to get where I was going. Well so did the GPS. That is how I got used to it. As I said, I love it and would hate to be without it. I can also walk with mine, so if you do get one, make sure it has that feature. Guest guest
I wanted to add that most of my nightmares are about being lost. I have driven somewhere, but don't know how to get back home. Sometimes I'm back in college and can't find my way back to my dorm room, LOL. So I guess the fear of getting lost is a fear of mine. Guest guest
Sue, Don't feel bad, I get lost in the grocery store. and I shop there all the time.. I tinke the Fibro I have causes some of it but I know that meds definetly can cause the problems. When I drive me DH talks to me on the phone so I don't get lost, especially if its dark. Naturally I don'r drive at night if I don't have to. It drives me crazy. Not sure of an answer but I have just learned to deal with it Heidibug On Tue, Feb 3, 2009 at 7:32 PM, marysue <marysue@...> wrote: > I can't find my way out of a paper bag, either, and I've always been > this way.
