Guest guest
I've had the opposite problem. I have to go for a weight check every week. I started mtx. in August and since then have lost 17 lbs. They (the drs.) are always on my back about losing the weight, so I try and stuff myself before my weight checks. This drug does strange things. --- Corliss <ngcorliss@...> wrote: > For those of you on MTX or who have been on MTX, > have you experienced > unexplained weight gain? Guest guest
Yes I agree i spoke to my consultant about this and they denied that the weight gain was due to Mtx but I am not convinced.....the fatigue is something else and I recently stopped taking mtx for a few weeks and had a flare up. take care >From: " Corliss " <ngcorliss@...> >Reply- onelist > " psoriatic arthritis " <psoriatic arthritisonelist> >Subject: [ ] MTX and weight gain >Date: Mon, 20 Dec 1999 17:41:56 -0500 > >From: " Corliss " <ngcorliss@...> > >For those of you on MTX or who have been on MTX, have you experienced >unexplained weight gain? Guest guest
Yes I have had the same thing happen. You tell the MD but they look at you as you are crazy! Vivian [ ] MTX and weight gain
I'm trying to figure out if my rapid weight gain is from taking MTX. I have been on this since Feb. of this year. In 3 months I gained 6lbs going up from 4 pills to 6 pills. Then going from 6 pills to 8 pills I have gained 6 more lbs in 4 weeks. I called my doc's office and once again they said there is no way it has anything to do with the meds. I have been the same weight for the past 10 years, give or take a few lbs here or there. I have gone up 2 pants sizes in the past month. I had every blood work taken and nothing shows why I would gain 12 lbs in the past 4 months. They tried to tell me I was eating more, not moving around as much, and getting older. I'm 35 and I'm not eating more, I am moving around just the same as I have been. My mom is on the same med and she has noticed the same kind of rapid weight gain. They did all the same tests and everything came back normal too. I looked on the web and read lots about how people gained weight with MTX. Has anyone in this group experience the same as me? I know some people lose weight but I'm gaining weight.

Thanks,
Cheli

Guest guest
I think it happens because your body has relaxed because of 'pain and stress' relief from the MTX. When I had radiation treatments for cancer, the stress caused me to lose a lot of weight even though it was non-intrusive. Maybe you're having the same experience. (at least it sounds good, huh?) Guest guest
They just look at me like " your overweight so you are just eating to much " . Ha ha ha I'm glad I'm not the only one on here that noticed this. Guest guest
Yes that does sound like a good idea but over all I don't like that idea. Ha ha ha! I do know my body is still hurting. We are trying to stop my pain. Once we think one thing is taken care of another part of my body hurts. Grrrr! Thanks for the thought, Cheli ----- Reply message ----- From: " Dennis W " <betnden@...> Date: Tue, Dec 7, 2010 1:49 pm Subject: [ ] MTX and weight gain < >
Guest guest
I've had the same rapid weight gain as yourself and it hasn't stopped. I've been told the same as you, that it can't be the MTZ. Guest guest
That makes me wonder. I have gained weight, and chalked it up to the steriods I was taking, but I haven't been on them in a while. I'm going through a problem now, where I've barely eaten in the past two weeks (they think anemia) and my weight hasn't gone down?
