Dr. R,

hello. We don't really know each other YET ;) but i am hoping that is going

to change very soon. i finally have all my swans in a row. That site really

helped crystallize what my mind pictured was happening. Makes me feel much

more at ease about the surgery. I don't have one question. I see that you

use staples. as all gb doc's do but what i am not sure about is. do you

actually sever the new pouch from the stomach? in all pictures that i have

seen that is the case. but i can't find anywhere where it actually states

whether or not its cut oof from the stomach completely. It won't change my

decision. I just am curious more than anything.

I will be fed exing my medical records as soon as the ultrasound is in,

hopefully tuesday. I printed out all i could find about the procedure for

the physical.. I am guessing my doctor will know what to do :) Is there

anything special i should have him do? I am not having the endoscope as

whatever was going on in my gut is now better.

well i guess there is nothing more to do but wait to fed ex it all in. oh i

gotta get pictures.. Oh one other thing... since i will be flying in... Do

you think i need someone to come with me? i frankly don't want to bring

anyone.. not that people haven't volunteered but i do better alone with

this.. i am not the best flyer and another person will just add to that

stress :)

oh can people recommend hotels? and what is the best way to get back and

forth.. like bus lines or cabs etc or walking distance.... hmm well ok maybe

won't be walking in winter after surgery :)

so everybody please keep your fingers crossed for me... i want to have this

before thanksgiving which may be a stretch but i am gonna work like mad to

make it happen.. i really don't want to fly in snow and my work really will

hate me if i am not there for xmas to work.

ok i am rambling now :) i just really want to fly on over right now :)

Have a great night everyone,

diana

Hi,

Thanks for your nice note.

Yes, the stomach is separated in the MGB you might see this if you can watch

the movie or view the slides on the web site.

As to whether you should bring some one, I feel that you should.

We have had people come on their own but I am very much against it.

It is dangerous and it is best to bring a support person.

Ask the group on the onelist, I would be interested in their comments.

Doc,

Is this the same thing as the small pouch gastric by-pass? (spgb) as

performed by Dr. Moody in Houston, at UT- Houston?

Dr Rutledge,

For all of us who learn visually, THANK YOU!!! It is much more

understandable to me to see it visually!!! I did understand it, but I know

had I seen it in this form initially I would have understood right away!!!

:) Thanks Again! Paige
