Guest guest
Hi Ady, I usually write long notes but I've got to pick Josh and Kayla up from school in just a couple minutes ... so this one will be nice and brief. First off, I just wanted to say that if there's ever some words that you don't understand, please ask about them! Somebody on the list may know what it means and be able to explain it better, which will benefit all of us. I'm very glad you brought that up! Thanks I'm so happy to hear that is feeling lots better. I'm glad she's comfortable about wearing the braces at night. I hope they help keep those joints in line! Has her regular pediatrician prescribed a daily multi-vitamin with iron and fluoride? That's what my kids take, except Josh's doesn't have iron as he takes those as a special supplement. I used to buy them over the counter but their insurance covers it if the doctor write out a prescription. That saves a little I understand how must feel about coming to terms with having JRA. I think they all have to go through it. Josh recently wrote a paper for a writing assignment. The topic was Anything's Possible. It's a national contest from the PTA, so other kids here may have had to write about it too? Anyway, Josh's paper was short and sweet but the main concept was that since anything's possible, it is possible that one day his arthritis may just go away. And that's his number one wish. I wish I made a copy of it before he had to turn it in. Maybe I'll post it when the kids get their papers back My daughter explains JRA to lots of her friends and classmates. Josh is more on the quiet side and he's told her he doesn't mind if she tells people all the details about it. She could probably give a lecture on it! Well, she often does Oh, it's time for me to go already. I just wanted to say thanks for writing. And thanks for the holiday wishes. And I hope that soon megan will be out there playing along with all of the other little kids, and not just watching from the sidelines. Aloha, Georgina
Guest guest
Hi I'm just surfing my husbands site since I have RA and he has PA---keeping it all in the family. I was just diagnosed last year so I know what your feeling like your life is turning to s--- right in front of you. Fortunitely for me I found the http://rheumatic.org site and when on antibiotics it has worked for me, I think it saved my life, only time will tell for for now it's working. You might want to read The Arthritis Breakthought and try the site it will certainly give you more hope than the arthritis foundation will. > Katrina & Joe wrote: > > From: " Katrina & Joe " <boorah@...> > > Hello everyone, > > I am 25 and just got this terrible disease. Guest guest
To Katrina or Joe, For your scalp psoriasis...try the new over-the-counter shampoo called Nizoral ND. I use the prescription form and it works well for me. I also use a shampoo with Tea Tree Oil in it when the psoriasis gets itchy. I use this in the bath so I can let it sit on my scalp a while. The Tea Tree oil " cools " it all down and works for several days. Mitchel has an excellent brand.

Guest guest
JR, Yes I mean Interferon, sorry, I was in a hurry. I got it from American Metabolic Institute in San Diego or I should say they actually gave it to me in Tijuana at Dr. Rubio's clinic. Is there a problem getting it here? I don't know how much it was because it was in a package with all my meds. I will try to remember to call them and find out if they can get it for other people if you like and you don't curse at me again. What do you know about it? Is that what people take cottage cheese and flax oil for? JA

Guest guest
Robbin, I think that can sometimes be one of teh most frustrating things about this disease is that it can change so rapidly. One days they are up & playing teh next they are in teh bed in pain. Ashton has been having problems again lately too. I find myself at times questioning is this pain or what.. I hate that I've never had to do that before but it's just getting adjusted if theer is such a thing to the nature of this disease. I'll be praying for ...... Guest guest
Robbin, I know school just recently started, but maybe is sore and stiff due to the schedule change and tiring of a school day? The weather has really been messing with Kelsey this week, although she is still active and not in any pain. Today, however, when she was getting off the " big potty " (she just stopped using a small potty chair, and this is a big deal for her!) she kind of jumped down and hurt her knees. She cried, and it seemed to bother her for about an hour after she did it. Things like that really do break your heart, seeing them go from happy and feeling good, to absolutely miserable and crying in pain. It always makes me appreciate the good days, though. I hope gets to feeling better, and can stay that way! I'm sure school is tough on her, and plays a role in the bad days he had. Take care,
Guest guest
I've noticed a few people say their child has been having a rough time the past week or so, I'm wondering if the season changing could be playing a role in it, not just rain? Guest guest
Robbin, My mom has a little step stool she uses for Kelsey at her house, so I plan to get one just like it. She used to not be able to climb up on the toilet by herself because of her hands, but after being around her cousin, also 3, and seeing her use the " big potty " , Kelsey won't use the little one anymore! lol I'm glad, and she is also putting weight on her hands now to push herself up on it. In fact, last night I cleaned up the little potty chair and packed it away! Anyway, thanks for the advice

Guest guest
I thought of letting the girls decorate a cinder block, because our bathroom floor is very slippery. My mom uses a little stool, but her bathroom has carpet in it. Great idea!
Guest guest
Hi Robbin, That's a good idea, about the cinder block. You could either paint it with nice colors/designs, or maybe even cover it with felt or something? Being so heavy, it would be more of a permanent bathroom fixture, instead of the stepping stools that we use around here. They have those little rubber stoppers on the bottom so they don't slip much but they do move a little. Thanks for sharing that story. Made me smile Aloha, Georgina Robbin40@... wrote: > > get your daughter a cinder block or a brick to sit next to the toilet > this will help her step up and have her legs on something instead of dangling > and it helps to get off better > melissa was really small when she first started useing the big one > she would have to climb on it till my father in law suggestted this > a few heads in the toilet made her scared of it lolololol > i remember the day she ran in the bathroom and jumped on the toilet > cause my son said it was snowing outside > lololol the lid use to be closed all the time but this day it was open > and she ended up in that toilet feet first lololololol > Robbin

Guest guest
Hi Debra, I'm glad the Paxil is helping. I didn't have the nausea, but my trembling hands took at least a couple of weeks before they stopped. I know it takes time for the body to adjust to the med. As for the pred, I'd ask your doc what his strategy is. Some docs treat the flare with pred, taper, and monitor for relapse. In the early stages, some feel this is better than continual medication. A small percent never relapse, so I guess it's worth the try. Guest guest
Dear Connie I am sorry to hear the troubles you are having with diabetes and expensive prescriptions. A while ago I looked after a friend who had, among other things, diabetes. she got a blood sugar measuring gadget from the drugstore and used it twice a day or more often if she was feeling ill. She then adjusted her levels with her diet . She used fruit & fruit juices a lot, also pasta to give her a quick boost when her levels were low. When her levels were toohigh she avoided these foods. she ate lots of protein too. This worked for her. she was quite seriously ill, having been hospitalised with malnutrition due to untreated something or other colitis (sorry brain fog!!). She recovered quite fast, and never took meds for the diabetes. One thing to definitely avoid is sugar. also honey and maple syrup. so cut out the chocolate ice cream, sorry!! hope this helps. love sylv Hi All > I was in the ER last night and this morning.
