Guest guest
I hope someone can help with this question.... If a person is taking Orencia and MTX, should they wear an ID bracelet in case of emergency such as a car accident? RA is not like diabetes or heart medication, etc., but should emergency personnel know that the person is taking RA medication? Thanks for all your help. Guest guest
I would think the pharmacist or your doctor could answer that. I personally don't know but let us know if you find out something. > > > I hope someone can help with this question.... > > If a person is taking Orencia and MTX, should they wear an ID bracelet in case of emergency such as a car accident? Guest guest
I discussed this specifically with the nurse who works with my Rheumatologist, the answer was YES. Especially if you are taking Methotraxate or any of the biologics. I guess they could give you something that conflicts with what you already on in an emergency situation. The one she recommended is at www.medicalert.org and the are fairly inexpensive. Stan Seattle, Sun! [ ] Medical ID Bracelet? I hope someone can help with this question.... Guest guest
Wow! Good topic Joanne - I never thought of a Medical ID bracelet, but you're right. Thanks Stan for sharing what your Rheumy's nurse said about it - it makes sense. There are so many different drug interactions that " could " occur - its better to be safe than sorry. Guest guest
Medicalert also keeps your medical records on digital file so if there is an emergency any hospital can get immediate access to them. Guest guest
Betty got some for us a while ago. The bracelet has a message inside that says: This patient has a MEDICAL CONDITION See wallet card for info Each of us carries a paper that I designed that gives meds taken, when and how much for what purpose, Allergic Meds, and contact info including docs. These are printed with mine on one side and hers on the other so if anything happens, any medical people have the info in hand. Even with no bracelet, they are trained to look in wallets and purses for all info they can find. A bracelet may speed up the treatment needed. Our daughter even carries one with her just in case.
