Getting better

Hi Jane,

My sixth anniversary for lyme is coming up. I thought I was going to die the

first few years. I got better so slowly, I almost couldn't tell, but now I

look back and I am much better than when I first got sick. I will probably

never be 100%, and have made lots of changes in my life to compensate for

lyme, but everything I read says there are so many ups and downs. I would go

in so sick and my doc would say, you are doing ok, I thought he was nuts, but

it worked out, slowly but it did.

Don't get discouraged, the change is so minimal, just do whatever you can ,

like rest, etc, to help yourself get thru this, and by all means keep your

sense of humor.

My son thought I was nuts today when I refused a shopping trip, he laughed

and said he thought he would never hear me say that. I went back to work

this week and it about wiped me out. So I have to rest, did errands this

morning and nearly didn't make it up the hill to my door. so, resting the

rest of the day.

Take care and keep your chin up, we are all pulling for you,

Hugs,

Connie, MI

Thanks Connie!

I am trying! I keep saying to my friends and family, if I don't laugh I

would just cry!

Thanks for taking the time to respond... Now go REST! Otherwise we are

going to have to send in the " Nap Squad " ! I do hope you get the rest you

need! Attitude is SO important!

To Connie, Jane and all,

You're so right about rest! My daughter was sick with Lyme for 8 yrs. As

we reduced her school schedule or got her a tutor, we noticed an

improvement in her health. I wish we had known this sooner.

I keep a careful eye on her now (well, as much as I can with a 19 yr.

old!) to make sure she's not doing too much so that she stays healthy.

Since I am at my very worst now, I rest all the time, and TRY not to get

too stressed.

Connie, I'm so glad that you have improved so much! You're right,

though, it can take a long time. Hang in there, Jane, and

everybody else.

Take Good Care, Joan LI NY

Hi Jane,

Boy do I rest, I barely make it up the hill, thru (literally) the shower and

onto the couch for about 3 hours, the couch not the shower, oh you know what

I mean.

I think I am too old to hand teenagers anymore especially nearly 1000 of them.

Thanks Matty for sharing with us. I am about to probably try a product called

Natures Biotics. (Homeostatic Soiled Based Organisms). I have done a lot of

reading on it and also a few years back a nutritional doctor told me about

it and gave me some information to read up on it. I tried it but did not

stick to it and did not stick to eating better so that it could do what it

needed to do. Anyway, I if you want to look it up just type in Natures

Biotics and it should pop up somewhere. Also, if anyone has tried it please

share if it helped you,thanks...Tonya

Thanks Matty for letting me know that you had tried it. I think I am going to

try and go at least 3 months this time and see what happens. I did notice

some detox things. I had flu like symptoms which lasted between 1 to 3 days.

If I took it now I wander what would happen, I was not as toxic as I am not,

well I was but now being on pain medicine for fibromyalgia has really put my

body in a toxic state. Anyway, I have some acidophilus but don't believe that

it survives like soil based organisms which the Natures Biotics is. If it

helps I will certainly try and let the group know....Because He Lives,LaTonya

Hi all,

wanted to write as to where I am in my health journey

in overcoming Fibromyalgia, hypoglycemia, a host of

immuno-suppressed triggered viruses that we all carry,

IBS, depression and fatigue.

Having been diagnosed this year with Fibromyalgia, I

set to work on to figuring out what to do for myself.

If it weren't for this and other email support groups,

I might as well wait for the inevitable

life-shortening illness, because that would be the

certain outcome of my current poor health. However, I

have been given a walk up call and intend to get into

shape.

My first parasite cleanse was a disaster. I believe I

am allergic to psyllium, a supplement I was taken

often. I gained 20 pounds in two months and was

autointoxicated to the point of hardly being able to

walk or function. The pain was incredible. I now

realize this is because to two things: bowel in rotten

shape, needs to be cleansed, and my liver and

gallbladder are clogged with bile and stones.

I then did two gallbladder flushes, producing many

hundreds of gallstones. Did another, gentle parasite

cleanse (still not very productive for parasites),

followed by a more successful gallbladder flush.

I have ordered Gold Coin Grass to assist in getting

rid of the stones.

I then did a series of short fasts with fresh fruit

juices, water, and supplements. I have begun to juice

fruits and vetables. I have almost worn out my first

juicer and need now to upgrade. I lost 17 pounds since

my heaviest, sick period. Though I was frustrated

that having to stop eating solid foods was the only

thing that helped me finally take off some of the

water weight. I noticed that I was not hungry on the

fasts (which lasted from 3 days to 7 days). My sense

of smell and taste quickly improved, and energy went

way up. I now realize how depressed many foods make

my system. Since I have been suffering from IBS and

constipation for so many years, I know I need a good,

full cleanse.

I have just ordered Arise & Shine products to help

with the cleanse. I am anxiously looking forward to

getting rid of the gunk inside and fixing my diet so

that it is alkaline and raw.

It is not enough that we go to doctors. We must be

our own health champions. It is a never ending task,

particularly for those who are sick.

Best to you all,

Matty

Hi Tonya!

Nature's Biotics was very helpful for me. I took them because a friend told

me they were good and not for any reason in special. It helped my

constipation problems and I used to have some vaginal discharge. It took

care of that as well. At the moment I am taking Primal Defense but I like

Nature's Biotics better. For constipation it has helped me also to follow

the ER4YT diet (Blood type diet, I am O) and the Circadian Prescription

(Proteins for breakfast, lunch and snacks and carbohydrates for dinner).

Hi Pam!

Dr. D'Adamo has published two books (dadamo.com) and he sells a kit so

you can find out your blood type (around 10 dollars). In e-groups I belong

to and it has been extremely helpful to join it.

The author of the Circadian Prescription is Sidney Mac Baker, MD.

Since I have followed his eating rules I have lost weight without any

cravings, no fixed amounts, just by eating proteins only for breakfast (it is

a rice protein shake with flaxseed since I can't have wheat and I don't take

soy), lunch is a mixture of protein and vegetables and dinner only

carbohydrates (snacks also are proteins, nuts, etc). With this way of

eating, you combine better your food, have more energy, sleep better and shed

unwanted weight.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello Theresa:

I'm glad you wrote about the Blood Type Diet. Where can I find info on this

topic. I would like to know what type I am. Also, I'd like to learn about

the Circadian Prescription. I was told by a nurse that our body follows

some kind of cycle and I'd like to learn more about it.

Thank you in advance.

Hello !

Thanks so much for the site re: blood type and the author of Circadian

Prescription. I've not had the chance to go to the bookstore as yet, but I

did look at the site. Dr. D'Adamo makes sense. I'm a type A, I teach over

120 students, sing weekly and I have three daughters to keep up with and a

house to manage. I'm always bothered by sinuses, an unclear/sore throat or

mucous in the throat. There are days, I just don't feel like speaking to

anyone. Plus, I'm tired all the time. I plan to go back to the site since I

was pressed for time the first time I checked it out.

Have a great day!

....Oh my gosh! I did not know there were others out there who walk down

the stairs sideways! I have been improving since AP (two years in March)

now even though I am able to walk down regular, sometimes i catch myself

halfway down the stircase in the sideways mode. Old habits die hard, I

guess.

nice to hear a success story! Glad you're feeling so much better! Take care,

try and combat the

symptoms of hypothyroidism. I was diagnosed nineteen years ago and

have had much trouble since. I took synthroid (levothyroxine),

euthroid (before it was discontinued) and levothroid (a different

brand of levothyroxine). I did not have much luck with any of them.

I began doing a lot of home research and went through a lot of

doctors. Most physicians are more concerned about not being

challenged on a diagnosis than about listening to how you really

feel. They are many times unwilling to listen to any suggestions or

ideas that stem from your own research. If your physician won't

listen to you about how you feel, then find another one. I went to

www.thyroid-info.com, a website by Shomon, and I found a doctor

in my area that seemed to be more open to trying to get rid of all

the symptoms instead of a few. After seeing him, I switched to

Armour Thyroid 2 gr (160mg I think, I don't know the exact conversion

factor) per day. Around the same time, I also began seeing an

acupuncturist and altered my diet slightly to take in less red meat

and fats. Since then I have gone from 5'7 " 235 lbs to 188lbs, and I

am still losing weight. I feel better than I have felt in years. I

am 40 years old and feel better than I did at 28. I do not

contribute the success to any one parameter. I believe that the

combination of treatments is what helped me. I do not think that

this is the route for everyone but you need to spend the time trying

different things and doing research on your own. Diet and proper

vitamin and mineral consumption may have a huge impact on how you

feel. There are also factors including the time of day that you take

your medicine that can alter the way you feel. Thyroid medicine is

designed to take at least one hour before you eat or two hours after

you eat. Some foods can chemically bind with thyroid hormone causing

your body to not absorb the medicine correctly. Keep up your spirits

and keep searching. No one knows how you feel better than you do.

You can find the treatment that works best for you.

I just realised the other day that my son and I ( we are taking peptizydes) are

healing the health problems from the most recent to the most distant. What I

mean is that son gained the energy he lost a year ago, then eye contact improved

which was lost 3 years ish ago, then his conversation skills improved which were

worst 5 years ago and just a few days ago he had a red ear that used to occur

regularily when he started school. I know this is a common route but just

thought I would mention it incase anyone else sees old behaviour return and they

may not panic so much.

I realised it yesterday when I woke very stiff, after 2 weeks on enzymes, and

have not had that problem for over a year, but used to have it regularily. This

stiffness has gone today so hope that is gone for good too.

When was he on steroids? My son was psychotic on them. Really. It may take

awhile for that to work itself out. It did help once I figured out it was the

steroids and talked to him about it.

Maybe it's too late for this, but would he rather be in his crib again? Just

thinking maybe school and big bed turned out to be too much and crib would be

easy to go back to. The other thing is that when n went through some bad

periods with high anxiety I let him go to sleep in my bed with me there, first

reading to him and then I would read a magazine or somethin while he dropped

off. I think his body was in such a turmoil that he needed the reassurance,

and it helped lower his anxiety during the day too.

Sorry it's been so bad for all of you.

==>The liver is an amazing organ - it actually regenerates once a

month. It is possible your thyroid will normalize too. Some people

have been able to gradually decrease their thyroid meds too, and

eventually stop them. If your temperature goes up and stays up

consistently for a week or so you might want to cut back gradually.

Congratulations! My daughter did the same thing 3 years ago. She was

homebound and had a teacher coming out for 2 years and then we started fresh

high

school. This was after about 48 months of on antibiotics and then on a pulse

dose. I thought will we ever get back to the honor roll. It has been a very

high mountain for her to climb but she has made it. We learned to look not

at the grades she made but that she had made it all day. We also learned

that her peers were so glad to see her they were eager to help her with notes,

assignments, etc. We also found that playing volleyball and keeping her body

temperature up seemed to help also. Just take one day at a time. Remember

that she will have days when she is extremely tired but don't be discouraged

its

natural. She found an outlet in music and shocked me when she said she was

going to tryout for all state. Of course, she woke up with a cold and sore

throat that morning and missed it because she couldn't hit her high notes. She

did make all county choir, and has made honor choir at school. Good luck~

We sometimes wondered if it would ever happen, but the LLMD said he guessed

not all the way there yet, but is sooo much better than she was. We are

She was on Zithromax, and Doxycycline mainly. The doctor alternated between

the two drugs. We would be on what I considered a harsh dose of both of

them for 3 months then a pulse dose of one full week and three weeks off. I

know

the Doxy was 500 mg once a day and the zithro was twice a day. Until the

bacteria was under control, we were on more than we pulsed. I will have to go

back thru her file which looks like a book to know for sure. I know at one

point the doctor was considering a medication that was new and would cost

2400.00 a month. Of course, after I recovered from the shock, we decided he

would

clear it through insurance first. Good thing because they considered it an

experimental drug at the time.

What antibiotic and dose did your daughter take for 48 months, then what

antibiotic (if different) was used for her pulse dose and frequency? How

many months was she on the pulse dose?

My sons and I all had Lyme for years before it was diagnosed even though we

had multiple erythema migrans rash sites (looks like a smeared hive rather

than a bulls eye) after tick bites.

Thanks,

>I am so happy for you and for your daughter. What a wonderful turning

point in your lives! Here's to your families' health and happiness!

I am happy to share that my daughter started school today, after

missing almost three years of school & 32 months (and counting) of

treatment for Lyme. We sometimes wondered if it would ever happen, but

the LLMD said he guessed 2-3 years of treatment, maybe 4 or 5. So she

is right on schedule. She is not all the way there yet, but is sooo

much better than she was. We are praying that she doesn't have any

real severe relapses, but you've got to enjoy the moment. When things

were really bad, I found hope in hearing about the recoveries out

there. I hope this message will give one of you the hope you need

today.

wow I am SO glad to see all of the successes--I have a question...howe on earth

did you get all that zithro cleared??? we cant get our insurance ( healthnet) to

give over 21 days period--and NO refills--it was a struggle to get past the 5-7

day Z-pack to begin with--we gave reams of docs too--how its necessary--positive

tests, lists of drugs we tried and failed on--lists of others we are allergic

too--and even confirmation from a neuro and an immuno on top of the llmd

still--denied

now we have Evan on Ommicef( just stopped tinidazole) and Im on minocycline (

stopped levaquin)

and yet we both remain very ill--on a scale of 1-10 neither of us can get lower

than 7!!! ( 10 being take me to the hospital Im dying ill)

any ideas re insurance a BIG help--as I may reconsider resuming zithro for evan

again!!!

thanks and once again GREAT news guys!!!

Re: [ ] getting better

She was on Zithromax, and Doxycycline mainly. The doctor alternated between

the two drugs. We would be on what I considered a harsh dose of both of

them for 3 months then a pulse dose of one full week and three weeks off. I know

the Doxy was 500 mg once a day and the zithro was twice a day. Until the

bacteria was under control, we were on more than we pulsed.

I guess it was a difference in insurance companies and the way the doctor

presented it and he isn't even a preferred provider. But our LLMD is very

outspoken and we never had a problem. When he prescribed diflucan we had a

problem. I called our retirement system who governs our insurance and they

told

me to have him prescribe it in smaller doses. Insurance would pay for 64 of

the 50 mg but not 4 of the 150 mg.

I am sure had he prescribed the newer drug that cost 2400 a month they

probably would have denied it but then again I was ready for a fight.
